  2. Happy Wednesday I hope you are all well and the weather is being kind to you

    1. Got up early and went for a walk this morning and to mitigate the single digit temps (6°C) I wore fingerless gloves before the sun warmed me up

    2. Did a nice variety of quizzing before breakfast (Sporcle, Redactle and Geoguesser)

    3. Enjoying the sun warming our living room while reading and listening to 80s tunes (reading Ancestors by Prof Alice Roberts)

  3. @RunalongWomble happy Sunday, I'm good thanks I hope you are well too. I'm currently re-reading Ancestors by Professor Alice Roberts which explores 7 burials from British Prehistory and explains how they expand our knowledge of early humans in the British Isles and how using the study of their genomes alongside the archeology is enhancing our knowledge

  7. I bought two different books on writing poetry, with prompts to get you started.

Unfortunately, one of the books while encouraging you to "write deeply" the author also at many times criticises all the ways you can fall into "trite" and/or "workshop standard" poetry and how absolutely awful it is - as a way to try to convince you why it needs to be deep. Almost setting up rules to follow and expectations for qualities, or you'll inevitably be an unworthy poet (my interpretation of the introduction.) What a way to discourage people from even trying.

Write that trite poem and play around with it, go to that poetry or writing workshop, enjoy the community. Express yourself.

And yeah unfortunately that book is going to go straight into the next donation pile. I'll see what the other one brings for ideas.

  9. @RunalongWomble hello, happy Sunday, I'm good thanks I hope you are well too. I'm currently rereading How to be a bad birdwatcher by Simon Barnes as I wanted a small easy read after finishing The Ring of the Nibelung by Richard Wagner yesterday

  10. Saturday is turning into a lovely chill day. I'm sitting in our living room that has been warmed up nicely by the occasional sunshine; snooker is on the telly and I'm reading my book (The Ring of the Nibelung) with the occasional tea and snack break
