Mangosteen

The little one discovered #Cuphead recently and finds all the bosses fascinating.

They've been asking me to find #LEGO build instructions for some of them and there are a few #MOC creations available.

Yesterday they wanted the last phase of Hilda Berg, the Crescent Moon. Couldn't find anyone that's made that one out of LEGO, so we set out to create our own.

They made the face and I made the moon and I must say we are really proud of this one.

One of my favorite video game quirks is that, in PC #Cuphead, you can exploit controller connections to infinitely duplicate Mugman.

As a follow-up post about what makes an #IndieGame, here is a great analysis that takes a different approach with a simple formula that includes team size and game size.

Samyam on #YouTube has a great discussion and breakdown of what makes an #IndieGame. She also proposes an ‘Indie Score’ system to determine their actual indie-ness.

Example: In her intro she says #Cuphead was not an indie game, and neither is #Hades2 or #Expedition33 or #Mixtape. After watching this, I think she is absolutely right. The word ‘indie’ has become seriously muddled.

Kind of an odd choice of console since not that many people had it, but right on. I don't think I've ever greeted the news of a sequel to one of my favourite *things* with as much trepidation as I have the news of a sequel to #Cuphead. 

For my money, it's one of the best examples of a game absolutely nailing what it wants to be; it's pitch perfect in almost everything it does. The music, the art, the boss fights and it's controls; it's all exquisite and deliberate.

I've got faith in these developers to get It right. They know how to make these games and they obviously love the franchise as much as I do....but man, Cuphead is just so perfect I worry that anything that doesn't hit that make is going to be a letdown. 

How do you top perfection?

Maybe I'm worried about nothing. It's just a game right? Maybe. I've got a fucking Mugman tattoo on my arm. Please don't fuck this up.
