It's native to #SouthAfrica. People there have long cultivated & harvested the buds & flowers as food. It's used to make #WaterblommetjieBredie - a traditional South African stew. The #Afrikaans name of this traditional cultural dish translates to "stew of little water flowers".Recipe:

A new study suggests that by 2040, over half of the meat we eat will be vegan or lab-grown.
If it means that global food production takes up a fraction of the land and resources it's currently using AND does a better job of feeding the planet, I am 100% okay with that.
(It had just better be DELICIOUS.)

This is the #ChristmasCactus that I #propagated from #cuttings 2 yrs ago. It's doing well! 3rd time it's given multiple full #blooms this year 🥰 It is really easy to propagate. I recommend trying that out to get more plants without buying more. I'm huge on frugal indoor & outdoor gardening. We have 3 plants that I propagated from 1 mother plant.
This is one of the few #cultivated #plants which aren't toxic to cats or dogs - many are toxic to pets, if ingested.
