  1. The future of development is people copy pasting code they don't understand in order to fix bugs they don't understand, that were found by a stochastic process that nobody has the resources to check against false positives.

    Because "critical".

Get in on this or be left behind!!!

  10. This week on Deep Cuts in a Lovecraftian Vein we're trying something different: presenting the first in a series of lost and forgotten tales.

"Something from Beyond" (1941) by Paul Dennis LaVond is a story of the Cthulhu Mythos - but one never collected or republished since its first appearance.

  20. @phantastiknews

  21. Obsession is a dangerous thing, no doubt. But obsession in the halls of the storied Miskatonic University (especially the unfettered acquisition of certain medical knowledge) has led many a lamb to slaughter.

Ah, "SSID," the short story that started it all.

  24. At the Mountains of Madness by H.P. Lovecraft

H.P. Lovecraft is an author I am hit and miss with, even before accounting for him being especially racist, even for the 1920s and 30s. I enjoyed The Shadow Over Innsmouth but kind of bounced off The Call of Cthulhu. At the Mountains of Madness leaned toward the bounce end of the spectrum for me. It was short enough, and my knowledge that it was the shoggoth book got me through, but a good amount was just really dry. In the end, even the shoggoth encounter was really dry, basically just "Oh […]
