Composure is HP for your head, and the Cthulhu Mythos games keep inventing ways to drain it — except the one that lets you do the draining.

I'm stuck in an airport but the #BundleOfHolding has a #Cthulhu deal still going for 3 more days. It included #Lovecraftesque and #CthulhuDark, both of which are highly regarded.
Played a great #CthulhuDark game tonight that was a literal embodiment of the Zen koan, "First there is a mountain, then there is no mountain, then there is"
Last night a second run through of the surreal & unsettling Every Sunrise for @grahamwalmsley 's Cosmic Dark. A wonderful and inventive group leaning strongly into the strange.
Part of @theGROGNARDfiles 's ace annual Virtual Grogmeet.

Picked this up from Noble Knight Games (it’s nice not to have to pay shipping and handling) after reading about it last week. It sounds like a fascinating #CthulhuDark scenario.
An excellent evening with @grahamwalmsley and friends, taking us through Rina Haenze's Die Not Ingloriously.
Unsurprisingly we did die & much blood was spilt!
A glorious, mythic adventure where we questioned the gods and the gods threw all the horrors at their command at us. Such is their nature.
A fitting end to the week.
Just two games left in our #CthulhuDark Seven Wonders season.
Thanks to @elevatedpachyderm Mark and @_terminus_est Rina's scenario is available https://bit.ly/49BzCTO
Ayer parecía que no íbamos a tener partida de rol, pero al final salió un #CthulhuDark bastante chulo con streamers, portales snuff, grupos de apoyo y Mi-Go. Ni tan mal ☺️
We are running a mini season of Cthulhu Dark inspired games, based on the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Games will be run consecutively from 8-14 April, UK evenings on The Raspy Raven, see link in my profile.

My English translation of the Cthulhu Dark scenario "Denique aequales", in which you play antifascist partisans in WW2 Italy, is now available (free) from itch.io.
C’è qualche anima pia che se la sente di recensire e votare uno o anche tutti e due i misteri della Cthulhu Dark Italia Jam 2023 prima della fine di febbraio?

I liked this #ttrpg post https://gorgonbones.blogspot.com/2024/02/choosing-fighter-means-choosing-violence.html which is by its own admission a bit of a shitpost but does provide food for thought about niche protection. Certainly over the years #dnd fighters became less "the ones who fight" - I blame clerics, but 3e+ radically changed combat roles so that everyone can fight and fighters are mostly worse at it.
One could run this #cthulhudark style for non fighters - sure you can fight, you will always lose though, maybe letting someone else escape.

FLORES OBSCURI

So what system are you choosing for this investigation 20's campaing? #Gumeshoe , #PbtA #CarvedFromBrindlewood or #ApocalypseKeys , #CthulhuDark , #FateTTRPG #FATE , or something weird like #WorldOfDarkness ?
Me: Yes
Habe ich gerade aus einer Unterhaltung mit @HeyeBodo, @thopan und @greenspindle über Cthulhu Dark heraus erstellt. Ich dachte ich teile es mal.
Call Of Cthulhu is deficient in creating a truly terrifying experience. Graham Walmart fixed this in many ways with his work in Cthulhu Dark, come read my discussion as to why and how!

Entry 1
THE GUNS OF NAVARONE
Spoiler alert: The first entry is actually so far the best entry. The action and the emotional beats/reveals perfectly matches the AtDC system including Anchors pulled from #CthulhuDark or what happens when a character is taken out of play. The heroes are even called "Operators" like in AtDC. 😍
It's only "missing" the Eldritch element.
