An excellent evening with @grahamwalmsley and friends, taking us through Rina Haenze's Die Not Ingloriously.

Unsurprisingly we did die & much blood was spilt!

A glorious, mythic adventure where we questioned the gods and the gods threw all the horrors at their command at us. Such is their nature.

A fitting end to the week.

I liked this #ttrpg post https://gorgonbones.blogspot.com/2024/02/choosing-fighter-means-choosing-violence.html which is by its own admission a bit of a shitpost but does provide food for thought about niche protection. Certainly over the years #dnd fighters became less "the ones who fight" - I blame clerics, but 3e+ radically changed combat roles so that everyone can fight and fighters are mostly worse at it.

One could run this #cthulhudark style for non fighters - sure you can fight, you will always lose though, maybe letting someone else escape.

Yesterday at #3W6Con, I ran #IlPrezzoDellaConoscenza by @danieledirubbo and Luigi Briganti once again, a scenario for #CthulhuDark by @grahamw.

And I must say, once again, it just delivered. The players were inspired to create interesting characters in the service of the bishop of Lucca. Great pacing, lots of easy to manage sinister atmosphere and a lovely dark finale.

Some specific GMing tips/things I did in the next toot. Spoilers included. (1/2)

Mein Programm heute: Jetzt gleich eine Stunde durch den Schnee stapfen, nachmittags leite ich #CthulhuDark auf der #3W6Con, um 18 Uhr bin ich bei einem Panel über Game Design (wo ich wahrscheinlich ein Dutzend Paraphrasen von „keine Ahnung“ unterbringe) und um 20 Uhr geht es weiter mit #TheBetween, geleitet von Jason Cordova.

Nächste Woche: irgendwie Schlaf nachholen…

I just replayed it last week at Dark Tower Con and, despite the flaws in the mystery, the game turned out great. I’d like to rewrite the weaker points and fix them but, before doing so, I should hear from Luigi, the other author.

@copacetic Das war eine schöne Runde! #DarkTruths gefiel mir ganz gut, fühlte sich wie klassisches Cthulhu ohne den Ballast an. Für Oneshots würde ich aber #CthulhuDark bevorzugen. Das bringt einfach eine eingebaute Struktur für die Session mit, den Abstieg in die Katastrophe, während #DarkTruths offen ist für alle Arten Verläufe.
