Anyone else out there who went to #CSUNATC25 remember anything about Thinkerbell's tiny braille display prototype? Sadly since my brain was not in podcast mode, I did not take any notes on it and Google doesn't seem to know anything.
I believe it was 32 cells. Braille was pretty firm but a bit less than Orbit, aiming for $1,000 and a November release. Definitely intriguing if true.

This is the same company behind the Annie braille learning aid, sold as Polly by APH in the U.S.

LOVE LOVE the neu-brutalist design of their new site.

I'm visiting the #USA for the #CSUNATC25 conference. Buying coffee, I got the perfect #coin in change for a #blindness / #accessibility related conference: a 2003 Alabama quarter featuring Helen Keller.

This was the first US circulating coin to feature a representation of Braille (there was a non-circulating 1996 Paralympics coin).

A little on Helen Keller from Wikipedia: "American author, disability rights advocate, political activist and lecturer. Born in West Tuscumbia, Alabama, she lost her sight and her hearing after a bout of illness when she was 19 months old.

Keller attended Radcliffe College of Harvard University and became the first deafblind person in the United States to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree."

I went to a regulatory session so there’s links to my existing notes in all the Title II stuff…

A couple things clicked in my head during the @ #CSUNATC25 conference: novelty != usability.

Topic was neurodivergence in design and the idea of inconsistency came up as a hinderance for accessibility.

Novelty, if not the new expectation, is just inconsistency with glossy paint.
