  1. At #CSUNATC23 @mak_en asked an assortment of people to pronounce…

    WCAG:

You need not speak Japanese to enjoy, if only to put some faces/voices with assorted #accessibility practitioners. #a11y

  2. @podfeet interviews Adrianne Mascho from Feeldom about their handcrafted backpacks designed for those who are blind or with low vision and/or those who use a wheelchair. #a11y #CSUNATC23 podfeet.com/blog/2023/04/csun-

  3. In his #CSUNATC23 talk “A Web of Anxiety: Towards a Less Stressful User Experience”, David Swallow of TPGi jokingly proposed a new CSS media feature: "prefers-reduced-anxiety."

That would be great for users, but how many websites would honor it? Too much marketing relies on deceptive patterns--like urgency, confirm-shaming, and sensationalism--that deliberately increase anxiety.

  4. @podfeet interviews Helena Harrison from Glean about their software tool that records class audio while you add your notes and other information. Glean also provides transcription of the class audio and runs on a laptop, tablet, or smartphone. #CSUNATC23 podfeet.com/blog/2023/04/csun-

  5. After attending a session named "Visual Tracking and Readability Issues on Mobile" at #CSUNATC23 last month, I downloaded BeeLine Reader, a browser add-on, to give it a try. I've been using it ever since. My eyes benefit form being pulled to the correct place in the next line by the matching color, as shown here.

The downside is: it's hard to get it to work on #Android. Here's the chronicle of my (partly successful) attempts:

  11. So. Anyone got a count of COVID cases coming out of #CSUNATC #CSUNATC23?

I have (rumors only) heard of 4.

I am not one of them.

  12. @podfeet interviews Kimberly Cline from Low Vision International about their range of video magnifier products for school environments, and for use at work or at home. #CSUNATC23 #a11y podfeet.com/blog/2023/03/csun-

  13. Hope everyone attending #CSUNATC23 is back home safely and ready to tackle Monday. Be sure to download the new Aira Explorer app and give it a try. Please also rate us in the App Store and on Google Play. #VisualInterpreting #blind

  14. @podfeet interviews Dave Epstein from Awarewolf about their All Terrain Cane, a light weight, high strength mobility cane that can handle the rigors of hiking as well as a stroll around the block. #CSUNATC23 #a11y podfeet.com/blog/2023/03/csun-

  15. I just spent a full week at the CSUN Assistive Technology Conference (#CSUNATC23), and I am still in a state of bliss.

Not only did my talk pack the house (with lots of questions at the end, yay!), but I got to meet a lot of happy nerds who are as stoked about accessibility as I am.

So again, if you have accessibility questions, please come to me. I am the happy accessibility evangelist, and it is free to ask me questions.

  16. @podfeet Mike May from GoodMaps about their mobile apps that provide navigation aids within buildings to users with vision impairments or first responders. #CSUNATC23 #a11y podfeet.com/blog/2023/03/csun-

  17. I missed many of you this week at #CSUNATC23 I did get to mee @SteveFaulkner and that was fun!

  18. Hello #CSUNATC23 attendees! It’s the final day of the conference and we’re here in the exhibit hall just waiting for you to come talk with us. Booth 803. If you haven’t downloaded and tried the new Aira Explorer app for #iOS and #Android grab it today and be sure to leave your review. #VisualInterpreting #blind #Low Vision

  19. Excited to be a panelist on "The Results of the Future of Interface and Accessibility Workshop" at #CSUNATC23 with Gregg Vanderheiden, Timothy Creagan, and Crystal Marte at 10:20am PT today. Check it out on the CSUN Stream!

  20. Heard great preliminary results from the new web accessibility survey at #csunatc23 that show this survey will have many valuable insights when it is completed. Survey is still ongoing, boosts of the link are appreciated! webaccessibilitysurvey.com/

  21. The survey is still open:
    WebAccessibilitySurvey.com

If you have not filled it out yet, do so.

Also, the results are quite interesting and are a good compare / contrast to the WebAIM survey.

  22. The #CSUNATC23 opening keynote from @[email protected] that I may have accidentally linked to the part shortly before he mentions me by name (in a list of other, smarter people):
    youtube.com/live/2aUP7hDgg_k?f

You should rewind to the start, of course.

  23. All three of my must-see #CSUNATC23 sessions yesterday were full. They were all in the same room, back-to-back. Folks who made it into the first session knew not to leave the room, which was smart.

Let’s see if I get into any of my four must-sees today.

  24. Excited to briefly call out @libreoffice at the CSUN Assistive Technology Conference. Although the talk focused on Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word, we pointed out that LibreOffice Writer is a free and open source option to generate tagged, accessible PDF documents.

  25. The NV Access team are at CSUN! If you're here in Anaheim, we'd love to have you at our session at 3:20pm in Grand GH. We're covering all the latest news and features with NVDA and what the NV Access team are up to.
