Until we're allowed the simple option to wholesale block all #bots, #Mastodon is NOT an alternative to #Twitter but instead yet another Twitter feed resale market. I should not have to ignore the local or global feed functionality to avoid Twitter #crossposts from users simply wanting to build up yet another follower count. 🙄😮‍💨

#ElonMusk is and remains the best thing that could have happened to #Mastodon. After bringing countless additional users to #Fediverse in several #Twitter migrations last year, he is now doing away with the wretched #CrossPosts from Twitter.

Say what you will #Elon #Musk makes Mastodon a better place. Thanks for that!

I see that many crossposts from the bird site are valuable, but not sure whether cross-posting retweets (which I do as well) is a good idea. It floods Mastodon with Twitter links. May be a better strategy to enable crossposts only for original Tweets. Instead of cross-posting retweers, it's better to write an original Mastodon post. Of course, it requires more time, but it will also mean that only the best content goes here and not just a dump of the Twitter feed. #Crossposts #CrossPosting

Ich hab gestern damit begonnen allen zu entfliehen, die weiterhin mit mit #crossposts von der Twit-Plattform hier agieren und auf Kommentare nicht reagieren.

Bleibt beim blauen Vogel. Mich nervt das. Das #fediverse sollte Basis für echte Unterhaltungen sein, kein Propaganda-Fuß in einer eigentlich offenen Tür.

Kann man eigentlich automatisierte #Crossposts von #Twitter verbieten? Das nervt. Oder wenigstens ausblenden lassen.

I'm trying, for just a week initially, a solution for filtering out Twitter crossposts suggested by @Davesdad.

I've added 'RT' to my filter and now I just need to verify that the filter works and that I've made the optimal selections for where it should work.

#feditip Wenn ihr keine Retweet-#Crossposts in Eurer TL sehen möchtet dann legt Euch einen Filter mit "RT @" an. Dann werden sie raus gefilter und ihr seht nur noch so was (oder gar nichts mehr, je nach Einstellung)

Masto protip: if you insist on #crossposting from twitter to mastodon, at least turn off retweet #crossposts!

Generally, masto users aren't keen on twitter>mastodon #crossposters in general. But RTs are obvious and ugly and annoying and if we wanted twitter content we'd be on twitter.

Ideally, you'd spend your time on masto and #crosspost your toots to twitter. But, you do you. Just a heads up that set and forget automated content from twitter is generally not cool here.

I am in both places simultaneously, that's the way I like to work.

I'm also unlisted so they won't go into to the local feeds.

If you don't like them and don't want to follow then I won't be offended, I'm not #ElonMusk and I'm not particularly thin skinned (although I do confess to being slightly argumentative if the tea quota is low😵‍💫😉)

Are there any ... things ... I can use do to stop seeing #crossposts on this site? I imagine the cross post would be generated by an api.. so there might be a way to filter those out? I note this has really only become a thing in the last week or so

I dunno, but I don't see the point in cross posting to different networks, doing so is not 'engaging' in any way and often times it is so jarring due to how out of context the cross post may be on the non-native service. like when someone crossposts twitter to facebook and the facebook post talks about retweets.. whaaa

Zu #Zerberus-Zeiten gab es mal ein #gateway für so etwas um etwas nach #Fido oder das neue #Internet zu posten :-) Ja, wäre schön, wenn es so etwas auch für die moderne Zeit gäbe. Ideen? #Frage #fediverse

I do #retweets and #crossposts from #Twitter. However, I encourage all of my followers to use #Mastodon's filter feature to get rid of them if you do not like them. And there is the possibility to filter my #German toots as well (see my profile links).

Which best practices do you abide by?
