Why did nobody tell me that there’s an update to #CrossPoint
There I was hanging out in 1.4.1 while 1.5.0 was right there

Just got the XTEink 4 Pro. First impressions: backlight and touchscreen are nice and intuitive. Stock firmware is still awful and immediately replaced with CrossPoint. POGO pins are a bad idea. USBC/Pogo adapter keeps falling off.

Przed urlopem (jakoś na przełomie czerwca i lipca) kupiłem rewelacyjny produkt, który od jakiegoś czasu jest viralem na #Reddit - #czytnik #ebook'ów #Xteink X4. To mały czytniczek, który z Chin (#Aliexpress) kupiłem za jakieł 230 zł. Trzeba było na nim zmienić soft (na #Crosspoint), bo fabryczny to krzaczki, ale to dosłownie wgranie jednego pliku na kartę pamięci i restart urządzenia.

Mieści mi się do nerki, kieszeni, a nawet można go przymocować do telefonu wykorzystując #MagSafe (ma wbudowany w obudowę!). Czyta w zasadzie tylko #epub, ale to mi akurat odpowiada.

Jedyne wady jakie znalazłem to brak podświetlenia ekranu (spory minus przy słabym świetle) i wodoodporności (fajnie by było poczytać przy basenie i się nie martwić, że jeden niewłaściwy ruch i po nim). Zaobserowałem też delikatne blaknięcie ekranu na pełnym słońcu, ale to były ektremalne warunki - na plaży przy 35 (niekiedy nawet ponad) stopniach.

Teraz wyszedł jego następca X4 Pro, który ma już podświetlenie i ogólnie jest trochę zmieniony (dotykowy ekran, inne ułożenie przycisków, większa bateria itp.). Jednakże kosztuje już 380 zł + cło i w dodatku jest wyprzedany. To już nie tak atrakcyjna cena i raczej ten nowy model się nie przyjmie, ale X4 mogę polecić jak ktoś potrzebuje mieć mały, tani czytnik zawsze przy sobie.

Mittlerweile wurde mein Xteink X4 von K1 adoptiert und ich nutze wieder das PocketBook Era und bin wieder hin und weg von der Auflösung. Aber, ich vermisse die simple Möglichkeit ein neues Buch drauf zu bekommen.

Gäbe es ein Buch mit #Crosspoint und passender Auflösung, wäre mein Bestellfinger arg am zucken

Damn... #CrossPoint on the X3 is amazing. Just received this minuscule e-ink reader few hours ago, flashed firmware via microSD and voila, WebDAV file server to add content, HTTP interface to do so the same and configure settings. Great on-boarding, it just works!

In other news, I had a quick play with #crosspoint 1.3.0 and it seems to have fixed the worst bug that was *ahem* bugging me: syncing progress with koreader sync now works between the device and the Readest app on my phone.

Since it seems like all the directions for flashing #CrossPoint to your #XTEink include using Chrome to make flashing successful (other browsers don't seem to find the device), be aware that PC and Mac users of Chrome now have to deal with this:

Ça y est, j'ai reçu ma Xteink X4 ! Sitôt reçu, sitôt Crosspoint installé ! J'ai mis un peu de temps à comprendre qu'il fallait cliquer sur le nom cryptique de la liseuse pour ensuite installer le firmware open source ! Mais ça s'est fait très rapidement. J'y ai mis la série de livres qu'on m'a conseillé dernièrement "Le clan des Otori". Et c'est vraiment très très cool cette petite liseuse !
Le côté non tactile n'est pas du tout dérangeant, vu qu'on a des boutons physiques pour changer les pages.
Je reviendrai en causer après plusieurs jours d'utilisation, mais déjà, j'aime !

Anyone else with an #XTeink X4 had trouble with the #CrossPoint firmware site not being able to backup the existing firmware? I keep finding it gets to 100% on the "Read Flash" stage and then reports an error saying "No serial data received." Does the same on the debug page for the app1 partition too, but not for otadata nor app0.
