@stefanlindbohm @transitous Remark : I went over for swimming but the location where it suggests to swim from Germany to Luxembourg is in a no-swimming zone. In fact, travelers need to walk down the Moselle for 300 more meters where swimming is permitted again. The routing should be adjusted 🙃🫠.

II eventually dropped my luggage in the village, put my identity card (illegal border checks and stuff, who knows) in a dry bag and swam over. Can confirm you can make the transfer by swimming buy the estimated time of 3 minutes is a bit hard.

Best of international travels :

To get to my destination from Elsàss to somewhere in Lëtzebuerg, there are plenty of different options. Depending on the day and time, they involve :

- :sncf: TER trains
- :sncf: TGV/Ouigo trains
- :db: regional/mainline trains
- :vrn: & :saarvv: local busses (and tram trains)
- :fluo: local busses
- :cfl: international busses & trains
- :lux_rgtr: (national or international) local busses
- a walk across two country borders

State of routing sadly is :

- :db: does not know :fluo: & :lux_rgtr: local busses
- :cfl: does not know :fluo:, :vrn: & :saarvv: local busses, refuses to propose walk (3 h détour instead)
- :sncf: does not know :cfl: busses & :lux_rgtr: local busses, refuses to propose walk
- :fluo: technically knows all but refuses to propose walk and routing generally crappy to unusable
- Transitous technically knows all but proposes to swim (!!!) the Moselle across the border [would do but got luggage with me*] rather than the reasonable walk at another location

Seriously, how hard can it be ?

It's remarkable how :

- :db: tells me only the German trains are cancelled and
- :sncf: only tells me the French trains are cancelled

on #Bienwaldbahn today. Both say the respective other country's trains were running - but they are all cancelled. The German trains because of staff shortage and the French trains because of rolling stock shortage*.

* The joke is how the "old" baleine trains on this line are on shortage and replaced by Régiolis trains - that actually also have Germany approval - and the drivers obviously also have Germany approval so I don't really get why they don't just order a Fahrplan for a Régiolis across the border. How hard can it be ? That's a joke. ( Do you know, @hopla ?)

TIL : An :sncf: Liberté fare (45 % off the entire journey) from Karlsruhe to Paris is EUR 133. A :db: Passzuschlag 3 (Interrail valid in Germany and full fare in France) is EUR 95.

Flexpreis / Standard Première is EUR 242.

These railway schedules are a joke. I'm traveling a bird's eye distance of 145 km today. They journey takes 4 h 45 min by public transport. That's a bad joke.

Also how the fuck can :sncf_connect: fail at selling a ticket from Metz to Bettembourg in TER, second class ????

Regular fare is EUR 9.50, if I search for a ticket with Carte fluo jeune and Carte Liberté/Avantage the idiots insist on selling me an Avantage fare with 25 % discount rather than carte fluo fare with 50 % discount because it's an international train. Joking ? Transport is free of charge on the section abroad, and I'm entitled to fluo 50 % up to border points anyway. I can't believe how much SNCF fails at selling their own tickets.

In any case - DB can sell me the tickets correctly at the vending machines - even in first class. And I'll check if they can sell me the fare up to Bettembourg frontière with 50 % discount and without CFL share in the :db: Reisezentrum later.

Idiots. This railway is just completely dysfunct.

Oida, :cfl: International (via :sncb: B-Europe obviously) offers the discount type "100% discount Luxembourg (CFL)". Great. That's what I'd actually need for international TGVs to and from Luxembourg, along with SNCF Carte Liberté. Sounds good. Both selectable, both applied.

Guess who fails at calculating the right fares ? Yeah, for sure 100 % discount is *not* applied to the price in first class. Oida, why do you even offer this ?

And why for hell is Deutsche Bahn as always better at selling foreign tickets than the involved railways on their own.

I'm *that* tempted to take a #CrossBorderFail journey by :car_ter: & :cfl: busses from Alsace via Germany to Luxembourg ...

Wow, the :pride_fluo: 🤝🏽 :kvv: cooperation is as great ... they can't even sell you tickets across this border ...

Online, they say tickets not available and in the bus ... they just sell you a ticket from the first German stop to your destination rather than from your station of departure.

I fear someone wants to avoid the complexity of actually selling a ticket with correct taxes applied abroad.

Especially sad : This bus runs on the historic Rhine Railway between 🇫🇷 Haguenau and 🇩🇪 Rastatt but apart from the railway tracks on the Rhine bridge it was mostly dismantled between 🇫🇷 Beinheim and 🇩🇪 Wintersdorf.

Additionally this bus timetable is a chaotic joke. Arrrrggghhhhh.

Not even speaking of that I use this bus via Germany because the Bienwaldbahn operates that infrequently on the French side that it's actually faster.

Good : :elron: Elron finally submits their schedule data of domestic trains to european schedule data available in DB Navigator or Rail Planner.
Bad : They're not submitting arrival times but only departure times so that all the perfectly aligned transfers in Estonia won't be shown.

Seriously, Elron has perfect digital schedule and real-time data ... Why this fail ?

Edit : Already their own GTFS feed is broken, so it's not a HAFAS problem.

The :vbb: vending machine is not able to sell tickets over the border from Frankfurt(Oder) to Rzepin. There is no other vending machine nor a ticket counter. So a national :pkpic: online ticket from Rzepin to Warszara it is and we will ask the conductor so sell us the international part onboard.

Missed it by 15 seconds. Doors were still open when I arrived at the platform but the front unit had closed its doors before I arrived at the front of the platform. Could have still made it to Colmar. Now trying to catch up with the TGV by TER 🐋.

And now don't tell me the 15 seconds the chef du Bord could have waited for me running on the platforms would cause a major problem in delay. Closing the door of an already delayed train in front of running passengers is just ignorance.

Chef du train de la SNCF qui essaye de m'expliquer que le Passzuschlag Typ 3 n'existe pas et que les cartes réductions comme la BahnCard ou la Carte Avantage s'appliquent pas sur des voyages transfrontalier avec Alleo avec une confiance incroyable. C'est la folie. J'expecte que le personnel Alleo au moins connait les conditions de vente spécifiques d'Alleo. Même le truc avec la Carte Liberté que ça s'applique pas sur une voyage en TGV entre Karlsruhe et Strasbourg, c'est complètement faut. Idiot.

Mais ben, dans ce cas, maintenant je peux être sur que la SNCF ne peut pas me vendre des billet Passzuschlag même si la Deutsche Bahn a un tableau avec les prix transfrontalier - et la Deutsche Bahn ne peut plus me vendre des billets Liberté pour Alleo bien que c'était possible jusqu'à 2023.

Le billet que je veut acheter, c'était 16.50 EUR quand la Deutsche Bahn pouvait encore vendre les tarifs Liberté mais maintenant c'est 30 EUR - simplement car la Deutsche Bahn et la SNCF ne veulent plus coopérer sur la vente des tarif avec les réductions. Idiots. À la fin c'est moi qui doit payer pour ça.

@jon I can't believe SNCF and DB simply apply different fares to Alleo despite 200 pages of fare regulation agreement between them. How can it be possible some fares are still only available at DB ?

Plot Twist bei #CrossBorderFail: Unser Zug fährt heute gar nicht über die Grenze nach Italien. Die französischen Erläuterungen dazu habe ich leider nicht verstanden...

RENFE überlegt sich aus dem Frankreich-Verkehr zurückzuziehen.
Ggf also wieder noch weniger Züge über die LGV Perpignan - Figueras. Dzt fährt die RENFE 2 Zugpaare, die SNCF je nach Lust und Laune (d.h. Saison und Wochentag) zwischen 2 und 4. Also bis zu 6 Zugpaare auf einer Hochgeschwindigkeitsstrecke, das ist viel zu viel.
Ehrlich, diese Schnellfahrstrecke und diese Organisation grenzüberschreitenden SPFVs ist schon ein einziges Desaster...
