I was tempted, having read about blood shortages, but I wondered if I'd have the stamina to continue walking around in high-eighties heat, down a pint of blood.
It would have been fine. I just chickened out. I wasn't that far from the Poultry Building, after all.
"Crop art fans had time on their hands. The Red Cross had cookies, fair swag, and a chance to get out of line and put your feet up in air conditioning for 20 minutes or so. If donors didn’t have a friend to hold their place in line, the Red Cross found someone who could save their spot."
