The prompt is “Year”
Cousteau, “Last Good Day of the Year” from Cousteau, 1999Cousteau is one of those bands that seems to aspire to nothing more substantial than beautiful, even luxurious pop craftsmanship, to such a degree that it becomes art - think late-stage #RoxyMusic; to me, they've always felt like #TheStyleCouncil fronted by pop #crooner era #DavidBowie.
They formed in 1998, then after releasing a couple more albums, they split in 2005. In 2016 they re-formed and have released two more albums since, but their eponymous debut album and this, the lead single, are still my favorites, perhaps victims of their own perfection, because I find them so satisfying, I’ve never felt the need to seek more.
#Baseball fans will understand when I say that the #melancholy here perfectly expresses the feeling of that last regular-season game when your team didn't make the postseason.
