The arsonist couple, Adam and Carly Taylor, are trying to wriggle out of a court order to rebuild what they vandalised on the night of 5 August 2023.

Englands snedaste pub byggdes 1765. Ena sidan var ca 1,2 m lägre än den andra. Nu är den icke mer. :-(
För en tid sedan såldes puben. Den nye ägaren hade inte planer på att fortsätta den gamla verksamheten. Och häromdagen brann den ... Efteråt stod den utbrända byggnaden kvar. Återuppbyggnad planerades. Men då revs den, under oklara omständigheter och mot ett uttryckligt beslut.
Nu bevakas stenhögen. Röster höjs för att återuppbygga puben, sten för sten.

Annoyingly, a bit I wrote a while back surfaced as a similar short standup routine on Twitter... it wasn't that original, tbh, but odd that was pretty much bang on the same punchline.
But with recent news I think I can shoehorn in some refs to the #CrookedHouse - as a lot of my book is set in Black Country pubs.
The Crooked House was an iconic pub in Dudley, West Midlands.
The brewery - Marstons - decided to sell it to someone not interested in retaining it as a pub and just a few weeks later it mysteriously burnt down and the road to it blocked with rubble so that the fire services couldn't get near to it.
Now the new owner has all that land he can build his houses on.
The Crooked House was a Grade 2 listed building.

30 minutes into the 2017 adaptation of #CrookedHouse , I finally figure out that this is literally a different book from #TheSecretOfChimneys. No wonder the MC has been switched from "just a guy helping out a friend" to "a detective helping his ex." (So far I prefer Chimneys though.)
