Chale, ayer pedían que "durmieran a la zorra" (#Firefox) por no saber hacer UI, lo estaban probando en derivados no oficiales de Android y la barra de direcciones invadía el notch o la zona de botones para navegar en el sistema (en mi teléfono no pasa eso).
La comparación era con #Cromite, un navegador no disponible en Google Play ni en #FDroid (en este último se puede habilitar configurando un repositorio adicional), que según los quejosos de Firefox, es lo mejor de lo mejor en Android, así que procedí a instalarlo para probar, pero... ¿Ahora quién no sabe hacer UI?

Anteayer active en Cromite el uso de extensiones experimental, por el momento le instale Ublock, pero no se si teniendo activado el bloqueo de publicidad del mismo programa me bastaría, y con los scripts que pueda instalar en Violentmonkey estoy también pensativo, si no es mejor dejar que gestione los scripts con el propio programa.
¿Sugerencias? Y ya de paso recomendación de extensiones para Cromite y si eso scripts también

Cromite on Android now supports Chrome extensions!
It enables the still WIP feature from upstream, but for mobile!
It's still an alpha feature, but the latest v142 available on F-Droid supports them now.

#VivaldiBrowser makes me feel overwhelmed with options in the same lovely way that #KDEPlasma does. I feel like I can do anything with it, and it has less strange compatibility issues than my old browser #Cromite.
That said, I haven't configured it very much… mostly just left the default settings and enjoyed it as is!

Hay alguna manera de que #cromite NO me abra una nueva pestaña al abrir la app? Es muy molesto que no me abra en la página donde dejé la sesión y no encuentro la opción para desactivar esto.

Так что либо ты ставишь что-то от компании и передаёшь данные о сетевых прогулках ей, либо ставишь какой-нибудь #UngoogledChromium, #Cromite и разбрасываешь свои данные по всем ресурсам. -

I've stopped using Firefox since the drama a while back... Using #ZenBrowser and #LibreWolf mainly on macOS and on #Android, #Ironfox and #Cromite (as an alt browser). But I'm having quite a lot of website functionality problems when using Ironfox. Can't create accounts, forms not working, can't use #webauthn, pages not loading correctly, checkouts or shopping sites broken, etc. I guess I need to have #Firefox still installed... It's annoying. What's your workaround? #browsers #androidbrowser

Al final en android he optado por atener Firefox de principal como siempre y aunque Vivaldi me gusta como navegador al final he optado por Cromite que tiene adblock integrado y uso de usercripts

I see a lot of #closedsource browsers selling themselves as better alternatives to #firefox after the terms of use backlash. I would say firefox is still better. A web browser can know everything about your online life - your web browsing habits, passwords, payment methods, documents etc.
A closed source browser can do anything with your information and evade detection. They may add #enshittification in the future. This is the business model that lead to #googlechrome .
So, in my opinion a web browser has to be open source. Then anyone can inspect it before entrusting it with private information. You can modify or remove things that you don't want too. Remember #waterfox, #zenbrowser, #ironfox, #cromite and #librewolf etc exist because firefox and chromium are #opensource.

I would say the Web isn't dead yet.
Even if #browsers undergo #enshittification , make blocking #ads harder we can still build and consume great web services like the #fediverse , #wikipedia etc.
I feel the responsibility to build ethically and to consume mindfully has increased.
We can create soft forks like #librewolf or #cromite to remove the annoying parts. Really glad that chromium and firefox are still open source.

@danslerush @thomholwerda I still use Firefox on my mobile devices (mostly because it’s the only mobile browser that allows extensions), and #Cromite for everything that usually requires PWAs (Mozilla’s support for PWAs is still outrageously primitive, and I feel like they’ve really run out of excuses).
The problem is that, even though Cromite is basically a version of the open Chromium browser minus all things Google, it’s still based on the same engine.
I feel the urge for a new rendering engine, but let’s admit that, given the complexity of today’s Web technologies, we shouldn’t expect a community-driven project to get to the point where it can compete with Blink (or even Gecko and WebKit) any time soon. Unless the EU starts putting its wallet where its mouth is and pours a couple of billions into such an initiative, instead of burning $300B just to chase the AI train.
Btw WebKit-based browsers (like surf) could be an option in the meantime, but outside of Safari I don’t see much development happening on that front.
Unfortunately Mozilla lost this train long ago when it decided that it didn’t want to decouple Gecko excessively from Firefox, so it’s harder to build browsers on their engine than it is with Blink/WebKit (unless you just provide Firefox with a different menu and a different skin).

At the current stage even the browsers that have stated that they’ll keep supporting Manifest V2 (namely Firefox and Brave) have also added a “let’s see how feasible it is on the long run” as an asterisk.
Personally I wouldn’t mind using a Blink/WebKit-based browser, as long as it meets all the other requirements and, most of all, if it commits to support V2 forever.

He probado #Cromite durante unos días y lo he vuelto a desinstalar. Uno de los motivos es que no tiene forma de configurar ni activar su modo lectura (esto puede que sea por un cambio en Chromium que hayan pasado por alto). Para navegar cómodamente en #Android sugiero evitar eso y usar en su lugar #Brave (siguiendo la guía de configuración de PrivacyGuides u otra más estricta aun para desactivarle TODO lo que le sobra) u otro navegador añadiéndole filtrado por DNS. Y en PC #Firefox o sus forks.

Could @e_mydata please replace their deprecated Browser and Webview in their OS and switch to #Cromite or #MulchBrowser? #Bromite has been highly out of date for a long time now. Its use is a security risk.
