One of four Sunda Gharials (Tomistoma schlegelii) that I saw within the Tanjung Puting National Park in SW Borneo a few weeks ago. This crocodilian was at the top of my Hope To See list, and my group got good long looks and photos of two of them from our boat. Have mercy. #herps #crocodilians #nature #naturephotography

"#Kuehneosaurs looked like #lizards, but were more closely related to the ancestors of #crocodilians and #dinosaurs. There were two species with wings made from a layer of skin stretched over their elongated side ribs, which allowed them to swoop from tree to tree."

Slow growth in crocodile ancestors pre-dated their semi-aquatic lifestyle
Research highlights newly discovered fossil crocodile ancestors (known as #crocodylomorphs) that exhibited slow growth rates, similar to modern-day #crocodilians -
Reposting a thread to see how it works on this instance. (Part 1 of 3) Brazos Bend State Park on 11/06/2022 I stayed near a mom gator w/pod about 20yds away most of the day. Finally counted about 19 in the pod.
Great Blue Herons, American Bitterns-hunted in the same area. The mother chased birds off a bird a few times Another Heron appeared in that area on this day, so I watched for possible gator/bird drama. #alligators #crocodilians #archosaurs -
