Others’ #FFVII childhood game seem to always be the OG PS1 version, that was like my eldest brother’s era lol - mine was #CrisisCore on the PSP.
SO HAPPY I get to replay this favourite game of mine again on the #SteamDeck, via their remake. It looks and plays so good - ironically the biggest or sole disappointment of the remake, to me, both relate to Zack.
One, Zack’s voice actor change (English) - I address this by just not playing in English dub and opting for Japanese instead. I grew up with the English version, so this is new, but I’ll take it over an impostor Zack. The other thing is Zack’s face and hair looking real off. I don’t understand how #SquareEnix could achieve super accurate likeness for all #FinalFantasy VII characters like Sephiroth, Cloud, the Turks’ - everyone really.. but not Zack 🙃
His face and hair (front specifically - back and side look fine) look like they were made up in a 2010 WWE game character customisation tool rather than professionally designed to look accurate to him in the movies and pre-rendered cutscenes :)) I’m upset they did my boy Zack dirty like that.. but it is what it is. -
I was thinking of playing #FF7 in Japanese, whenever I decide to get my hands on the remake of both the original and #CrisisCore - mostly bcos I've never experienced them in Japanese, and bcos I couldn't forgive them replacing Zack's voice actor with a shitty clone. But now I realise that could mean I wouldn't be able to immerse myself in the game without hearing #Osomatsu instead of Cloud (Sakurai Takahiro).

Playing #TOTK in Japanese makes me regret ever playing #BOTW in English. I’ve always been an #anime sub type of person but I remember seeing people gush about how good #Frieren’s English dub is - thought hey maybe I’ll try to have a listen and… nope. Japanese media is often amazing in its own language but hard cringe in anything else, esp English. The only exception I’ll give is to #HideoKojima #games lol - cos they’re all very western-centric. I do love #FFVII’s dub too though bcos I grew up with #CrisisCore on the #PSP and the #AdventChildren movie, but I’ll prolly play it in Japanese whenever I get my hands on the remakes - ESPECIALLY since they changed Zack’s voice (I will never forgive them for this) 😭

Playing Crisis Core and Sephiroth is a chill guy right now, somebody I wouldn't mind getting to know, but as he learns more about the things that have been done by Shinra, there are moments you can see the wheels are beginning to turn.

I wonder if I'm better off getting the #CrisisCore remake first, since I did love the #PSP release and some of both good and bad reviews on it were because the remake (actually, remaster) didn't change anything from the OG game besides the significantly better graphics.

Anyways, all in all, really solid game, holds up and is a worthy compliment to the original and Remake (so far). Now for me to go back and finish the original and Remake (don't tell anyone I haven't beaten them yet, woops).

CW: Crisis Core thoughts (minor spoilers)
Finished #CrisisCore last night and it broke me emotionally, as I knew it would. As a huge fan of #FF7 and #Aerith in particular, I always wanted to play this game and I’m so thankful for the remaster!
Brief review: not perfect, the writing and VA was iffy at some points. 6/10 as a stand-alone game. But as a FF7 fan, at least 8/10. It added a lot to the story - I kinda really like #Sephiroth now?!
Definitely recommend for #FinalFantasy fans 😊
