An interaction between two Crested Pigeons:
1) Look at my big tail feathers and my teeny tiny pupils!
2) You're not looking!
3) ...Oh...
4) Hmmm...Happy noises...They both then went back to scouring the grass for tasty morsels.
In the sun, their wing feathers flash these beautiful metallic purple and green colours

I went out to our Gatton Campus today for a job, and while I charged the car, I took in some of the local bird life.
The Noisy Miners were busy harassing everyone, the Magpie followed me from tree to tree talking to me, the Crested Pigeon was not interested in being within 20m of me, so took refuge in a Jacaranda tree, and there were several Little Friarbirds flitting about.

A journey to stylize a crested pigeon pin. I like how I start off basically realistic and work my way from there.

The crested pigeon (Ocyphaps lophotes) is a bird found throughout mainland Australia except for the far northern tropical areas.
There were around a dozen on a footy oval this morning foraging. They’re quite shy and skittish, which made it challenging work for getting a good pic or two!
This is only one of two #Australian #pigeon species that possess an erect crest.
It’s colour is grey with tinges of brown and green. It has a feathered but slender, black spike on top of the head. It runs with the crest erect.
The #crestedpigeon has black stripes and are bronzed, while the main feathers have colourful areas of brown, purple, blue, and green.
