There is power in these spinning blades,
green ninja of the grass.

The grasshoppers and praying mantes flee and
fly before the whirring wind. The hilly homes
of Appalachian moundbuilding ants are cut down
to jagged holes which spew forth red and black
bodies in an angry burning sea.

They do not realize that the hurricane
which slings them and their children
through the air today is predicted again
for next week unless the grass somehow
ceases to grow or the fuel line
springs a leak.
