I don't have any information here, but a significant flaw in this story is that it ignores any indie books that might be sold through Booktok. Perhaps some of their phantom book sales are actually happening there? But the old guard consistently has its head in the sand, chasing trends so much as they feed their existing and outdated model of property-grabs, best-sellers and velocity sales.
