I registered a domain name with Crazy Domains a year back. I do NOT recommend them.
They have a little scam running. They "give" you a free product that you didn't ask for, and certainly don't need. In this case it was "domain guard". It's bullshit. But they sign you up for 12 months for "free".
Then it comes due for "renewal" and they start hassling you to pay up. I already set this to not renew, but they are hoping I will forget. They are hoping I'm one of their many customer who doesn't know what they need, and can't remember why they have it.
A load of customers will pay the "renewal". That's the scam. Maybe this falls under dark patterns. I just call it bullshit.

How's this for a dick move from a domain registrar...
They've decided to create extra work for me by automatically adding to my account another domain I didn't ask for, and don't want.
And sent the notification from an email address I cannot reply to.
I am now accepting recommendations for where to register my .com.au domain that won't waste my time and energy.

@joepie91 @kelbot @freakazoid #Consolidation and #enshittification has been happening all over the #WebHosting and #domain market. For example, all of the following are just brands of #NewfoldDigital:
#Bluehost
Web.com
#NetworkSolutions (original pre-#ICANN gTLD monopoly)
#HostGator (where I worked)
Register.com
Domain.com
#CrazyDomains
#Markmonitor
#ResellerClub
#iPage
#BigRock
#SiteBuilder
#Vodien
#Yoast
#Yith
#BuyDomains
#SnapNames

Thinking it might be a good idea to move my domain registrations away from crazydomains. They still act as if an SMS is effecetive 2FA.

Never ever use #CrazyDomains for hosting or domains in #webdev.
After they screwed up the hosting randomly without notifying me, I moved the hosting and kept the domain with them. Let it expire and for the past three months I get spammed every second day about renewing it.
Then just had them call on Anzac day to ask for more money/renew it..
They are desperate and the worst relationship type..
So sick of #CorporateGreed

"…try to choose some more local, ethical, small #DomainRegistrar instead of going to big business ones" suggested @disroot.
So I switched my #DomainName from the case study in #enshittification that is #CrazyDomains to https://metaname.net
(basically, just copying @lightweight)

Wow. You've got a complicated setup. 😶 #NotATechieI used to have Namecheap as my #webhost. Got sick of them and now my webhost is #CrazyDomains. I think they're Australian. My needs are simple, so I can't say if they'll meet your needs. I got their cheapest plan -- which is more than enough for li'l me.
No complaints so far. Oh, and they helped me make the move too. 👍
