Tied my first fly in a couple of months. That's a Gamakatsu S10-B in size 8. I really like this hook, but I struggle with the size 8 for some reason. Think I did it justice here, though. It's has got a natural "black" yarn body with a gold colored rib. The wing is deer hair. Tied it in hand (without a vise) using YLI 100 weight silk thread.

I caught one crappie on this fly and then promptly lost it in a tree. C'est la vie.

I'm going to start a fish farm; find a nice spot out in the #Willamette valley, dig some ponds, raise #catfish, #crappie, #bluegill, and #trout. I'll let people come and #fish in exchange for bottles of wine, and bushels of apples. I'll supply all the #soulfood restaurants in the #PNW with channel cats so their catfish poboys don't taste like muddy asian catfish anymore.

I thought I saw a crappie in the murk yesterday, so I busted out a crappie jig style fly. In one lake, I caught bass with it. In the other lake, I caught crappie. The fly is a little wool jiggy streamer on a Fulling Mill #8 Jig Force hook with a 3.8 mm slotted tungsten bead from Hareline, and I fished it on my Tenkara Rod Company Sierra.
