  1. #CQWWCW contest results in. Analysing log errors, I see that my contest call is too short (EE5E), but also that there is long-time famous contester (SE5E) and many log their call sign instead of mine.

I confess I have made the usual 0/9 7/8 2/3 and L/R errors too often. Detailed log check reports are great tools to improve one's Morse code operation.

  2. Just closed the shack for #CQWWCW only to find that I cannot submit my EE5E log to the QRP category because my radio was set to 10 W and not 5 W 🤦‍♂️ . I sat for about 25 h, and made 250 QSOs on 10, 15, 20 and 40 m, all search-and-pounce, with my paddles at 23 WPM. I worked unassisted (I used sheets of paper to make a note of frequencies and call signs to go back to) and logged using not1mm, taking advantage of CAT control of my Xiegu G90. My antenna was a 5 m vertical wire with a 49:1 unun, tuned.

  3. Turns out this 40 EFHW can be abused to radiate some RF on 80m. #cqwwcw

  4. I did wake up at 0330 local for a contest this time, will I regret it? Time will tell. #cqwwcw

  5. I just submitted the logs for the #CQWWCW contest. I sat for about 23 h, and made 240 contacts on 10, 15, 20 and 40 m, using 5 W and a vertical wire, no QSO finding assistance, and (should I specify this?) just my ears and paddles at about 19 WPM. All contacts were done while searching and pouncing. Running was not a good idea with my #CW skills and my power. I still make many sending mistakes — many operators were very patient. I decided to turn AGC off. I logged using not1mm, no CAT (yet).

  6. #cqwwdx is indeed World Wide DX.
1950 QSO on the 15m band, 140 DXCC entities.

And my target of snatching the 20y/o Belgian record for SB15(A)HP? ✅✅✅

  7. Had a good laugh during #cqwwcw while hearing the top band op at K3LR calling TEST DX. He probably was fed up with fellow citizens calling him for 0pt contacts.

  8. Must be difficult for some qrq people to adapt their speed to the specifics of top band. They probably can't imagine how weak they are, even on a real large vertical. Add some qsb #cqwwcw

  9. 3B8M Team from Mauritius Is.
It was a blast! Thanks for all the QSOs from #Mauritius. 🇲🇺

More stories and pictures later due to ongoing antenna dismantle. WARC bands 12/17/30m will stay up as long as possible.

  10. Skimmer experiment update: in 24 hours I’ve spotted around 36k transmissions from 159 countries. CPU utilisation is quite low - but there was a definite uptick as Europe came online for #cqwwcw - average is around 25% utilisation. I’m decoding around 2K CW spots every 30mins. I need to adjust frequency calibration; spots are about 100hz too high. I’m not skimming on 160m, 60m or 30m yet…I may setup a 2nd RX/VM tomorrow for the missing bands. Overall not bad from an indoor antenna in metro London
