They told you Iran's missiles were being swatted from the sky. They told you the Iron Dome was holding, the Patriot batteries were working, US and Israeli air power was surgical and winning. They told you this on the ABC. They told you this on Sky. They were telling you nonsense. MIT Professor Ted Postol — the man who proved the Patriot missile failed in the Gulf War while presidents were claiming a 97 percent success rate — has now established that current intercept rates against Iranian missiles run at a few percent at most. The systems are depleting. The decoys are multiplying. The official story is, in his own carefully chosen word, a fraud. The first casualty of war is truth. But the deeper insight, the one Phillip Knightley identified fifty years ago, is that the lies are not random. They serve purposes. And right now, they are serving purposes that Australians have every right to examine. -

CPJ states this is “the deadliest and most deliberate effort to kill and silence journalists” they’ve ever documented, serving to “silence those who document and bear witness to what human rights groups and UN experts agree is a genocide.”

Israel killed more journalists in 2025 than any other country, according to a recent report by Reporters Without Borders (RSF).The single deadliest attack in Gaza was a “double-tap” strike on a hospital in the south of the enclave on August 25, in which five journalists were killed, including Al Jazeera photographer Mohammad Salama.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Israel has killed at least 246 journalists and media workers since the start of the war in October 2023.
Of that, 59 were directly targeted and killed by Israeli forces in what CPJ describes as murders. Most of the victims were Palestinian journalists and media workers reporting in the Gaza Strip, the group says.

Heute schließt sich das +972 Magazine über 250 #Medienorganisationen in einem weltweiten Aufruf an, der den Schutz palästinensischer Journalisten in Gaza fordert. Der von Reporter ohne Grenzen (#RSF) und dem Komitee zum Schutz von Journalisten (#CPJ) ins Leben gerufene Appell fordert ein Ende der #Straffreiheit, die es der israelischen #Armee ermöglicht hat, seit dem 7. Oktober rund 200 Journalisten zu töten, die Aufhebung der israelischen #Blockade, die ausländische Reporter daran hindert, in den #Gazastreifen einzureisen, und sichere Durchreise für Journalisten, die den Gazastreifen verlassen wollen, insbesondere für diejenigen, die medizinische Versorgung benötigen.
Seit Beginn der Angriffe hat Israel ausländischen Journalisten die Einreise nach Gaza verboten. Trotzdem dokumentieren unsere Kollegen vor Ort weiterhin die #Bombardierungen Israels unter ständiger Gefahr für #Leib und #Leben, während sie gleichzeitig #Hunger, #Zwangsumsiedlungen und einen künstlich herbeigeführten Zusammenbruch der #Grundversorgung und medizinischen #Versorgung erdulden müssen. Ohne sie würde die Welt kaum erfahren, was in dem belagerten und isolierten Gebiet passiert. Das #CPJ hat den Krieg gegen den Gazastreifen als „die tödlichste und gezielte Aktion zur Tötung und zum Schweigenbringen von Journalisten“ in der Geschichte der Organisation bezeichnet und die Zahl der Getöteten auf 189 geschätzt. Das Gaza Media Center und die Palästinensische #Journalistengewerkschaft schätzen die Zahl auf 246, während das UN-Menschenrechtsbüro (#OHCHR) von 247 ausgeht. Israels gezielte Angriffe auf Journalisten sind kein Zufall, sondern Teil eines bewussten Versuchs, die Berichterstattung über #Gräueltaten gegen #Zivilisten in Gaza zu unterbinden. Eine jüngste Untersuchung von +972 und Local Call ergab, dass Israel eine spezielle #Militäreinheit namens „Legitimization Cell“ eingerichtet hat, deren Aufgabe es ist, palästinensische Journalisten als #Hamas-Kämpfer zu diffamieren, um der weltweiten Empörung über ihre #Tötung entgegenzuwirken.

Dieser Grundsatz wurde viel zu oft verletzt und muss jetzt durchgesetzt werden.“ Journalisten sind Zivilisten, und ihr Schutz ist eine internationale Verpflichtung.
#Journalismus ist unerlässlich, um aufzudecken, was in Gaza geschieht, und die Verantwortlichen zur Rechenschaft zu ziehen. Wir fordern daher die internationale Gemeinschaft auf, ihrer Pflicht zum Schutz palästinensischer Journalisten nachzukommen, ausländischen Reportern uneingeschränkten Zugang zu gewähren und ihre Sicherheit zu garantieren.
