The thrid time in a row, a private package is being returned to us, cost for us all-in ~€500
The reason for this is U.S. Customs, because DHL Express has asked me to provide the most detailed manufacturer information possible for each item, which I unfortunately cannot do.
"As part of measures to strengthen customs enforcement, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) now requires significantly more detailed information regarding supply chains and manufacturers. Import declarations must disclose precise identification details for the actual producer, such as the official Manufacturer Identification Number (MID) and product-specific manufacturer identifiers (e.g., model or part numbers). Background and New Requirements: Current trade and enforcement regulations place a greater emphasis on import transparency: Precise manufacturer details: Specifying the manufacturer via an MID number correctly constructed from the company name and address is mandatory. Incorrect or missing information results in the immediate rejection of the customs declaration. Expanded product data: In addition to the standard Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code and general country of origin, there is an increased requirement to submit product-specific manufacturer identifiers (such as style or model numbers). 'The U.S. Justice Department is prosecuting an American for allegedly providing U.S. border authorities with a passcode that wiped the contents of his phone.'
It is also interesting and a good WARNING: 'the border agents claimed they did not need a warrant to search Tunick’s phone because he had not yet crossed the U.S. border'.
From a legal perspective, it will be an interesting case.

Oh, the hoops we had to jump through to get back into the US!
The #CPB Roam app wouldn't do a video call and my phone is set up to reject unknown callers. So they called Janet. Then they emailed me a link so I managed to do a zoom call on my iPad. They told me I needed a special form for my dogs and that we couldn't bring in any tomatoes, chicken products, or citrus, even if we bought them in the US three days ago. (1/3)
