In the near dark after sundown, the coyotes in the woods across the narrow valley really laid down some sound.

Not sure if this file will work but here’s 30 seconds of wildness. (Maybe let your own dogs know this is not allowed in the house.)

Near the end of our trip, we spotted a lone coyote crossing the trail through the woods ahead, and then respotted it watching us from a rise on the right. It seemed interested in our huskies and certainly had a lot to say!

Zeena was also very interested in the coyote, but wasn't sure what to say other than her usual, "I want to go play with that dog" whine.

Each year thousands of animals, including coyotes, die in wildlife-killing competitions held in NEW YORK.

Killing contests are cruel + scientifically unsound as a management tool. They have no place in the 21st century, nor do they have a place in NY.

Opposition to these contests is growing rapidly, and 8 states have banned these contests: Arizona, California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Mexico, Vermont, + Washington.

So that's probably all well and good.

Life in the band, here in Arizona has really settled in.
I'm playing guitar and mandolin four nights a week, around different camps and different campfires.

There is a large Social Circle here.

I'm in the SW Deserts of the US.
A coyote just stopped by...and flipped the bowl of kibble.
They are dogs!

I don't mean to interfere with their way of life, they're just cleaning up the leftovers from my own dog.

I do leave out water however.
