  22. It took all day to do jury selection for what’s expected to be a two day trial for a relatively simple case. And while I can imagine some streamlining, in general I think that entire process was necessary (even if it did result in the prosecutor saying “no” to me :).

    In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial

    This is obviously not happening. Furthermore, archaic bail laws leave defendants sitting in jail for *years* awaiting trial.

    And yet we keep hiring more police who, needless to say, keep arresting more people.

    This doesn’t scale. It can’t possibly scale. It’s insane.
