Beloved #Boyf has encountered the term 'Cosy Fantasy' and would like to try a few books.
For ref he says he's sick of unrelenting GrimDark, one of his favourite fantasy films is Hawk The Slayer BUT he is not above giggling at some of the more STOOPID elements of early (and let's be honest current) Warhammer 40K lore.
We already know about Legends & Lattes.
Also I don't think he cares about romance / spice but did enjoy the Wheel of Time TV series :)

Beloved Boyf has encountered the term 'Cosy Fantasy' and would like to try a few books.

Habe gerade den letzten Satz der Trilogie geschrieben und bin sagenhaft traurig. Vielleicht, ganz vielleicht, wird es einen vierten Band geben: Moira rachehext weiterhin in Edinburgh, aber nun sind wir in den 1920ern ... Hmm. Mal schauen, was das Jahr bringt.

Sangu Mandanna: A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping #fredagsbog #cosyfantasy Sera er en ung heks der har mistet sin magi ved at kaste et vigtigt spell der var for meget for hende, og har savnet den voldsomt i femten år. Men hun har sin tante, sin valgte familie og en gammel kro. Hvis jeg afslører mere spoiler jeg. Men det er en dejlig bog.

Viv, une orc qui a vécu de missions sanguinaires décide de changer de vie. Elle veut ouvrir un endroit réconfortant, un café ! Une boisson inconnue par les habitants.

Book 26 was Chaotic Apéritifs by Tao Wong.
This series is pure literary comfort food.

#VendrediLecture Un retour à la cosy fantasy -dont j'avais besoin après ces dernières semaines côté boulot- avec la lecture de "Sagas & Sable d'os", de Travis Baldree (traduction par Stéphanie Chaptal).
J'y ai retrouvé beaucoup de choses que j'avais aimées dans "Légendes & Lattes" : les clins d'oeil aux codes et aux créatures d'une certaine fantasy, un récit qui prend son temps pour décrire de petits moments du quotidien et les interactions entre les personnages... Et si le roman n'est pas traversé par le parfum des roulés à la cannelle comme le premier tome, les viennoiseries et leurs saveurs y ont toute leur place - accompagnées même d'une romance légère. Tout ronronne de façon convenue et agréable, dans le cadre, cette fois, d'une librairie et de la tentative de son sauvetage. J'ai aussi apprécié le fait que ce soit une préquelle : on y retrouve le personnage de Viv, mais sans remettre en cause ce qui avait été construit dans "Légendes & Lattes". Un bon moment de lecture donc.

This one continues to follow Kianthe and Reyna, but also adds a more traditional will-they/won’t-they romance, which isn’t my cup of tea.

My final book of 2024 was Sword & Thistle by S.L. Rowland.
Much like the previous novel, this one is warm, accepting, and hopeful. But this one was also surprising.

Moi c'est Méandrël, pronom elle, la 40aine ; je vis à la campagne dans la Loire.
En dehors de mon taff de costumière (cf mon profil pro), mon temps est partagé entre de la création (décos saisonnières, dessin, mondes miniatures, poterie...) et les errances de mon cerveau dans des mondes imaginaires ( #SF et #fantasy mais surtout #solarpunk et #cosyfantasy ; en livres, jeux vidéos, #jdr #GN...).
Je parle aussi travaux de maison et bricolages divers, du dehors ( #permaculture , #jardinforet et #jardinpunk , #poules ).
Je milite par la petite porte, pour l'inclusivité et l'écologie ; dans ma sphères pro, et dans le monde du GN en particulier. -
Yesterday’s book was Can't Spell Treason Without Tea by Rebecca Thorne.
Warm, affirming, uplifting cosy(ish) fantasy in a similar vein as Legends & Lattes, the Weary Dragon Inn series, or Cursed Cocktails.

In need of a comfort read, I turned to my favourite cosy fantasy series. Campaigns & Curses is the eighth book in the Weary Dragon Inn series by S. Usher Evans.
The audiobook is read by Deborah Balm, who is proof of nominative determinacy. I would happily listen to her read an accounting textbook.
