Since joining Mastodon I have come to appreciate it as a photography platform.
On Flickr you have to click through to see commentary. But sometimes context is helpful.
For example, this is a flower of California Buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis), a native plant in the coffee family. It is found near rivers and streams in California's Central Valley, wehre it is a popular nectar plant for butterflies.
