Rounding third on a historically accurate corset (not for me) and feeling amused by how many materials I had to go to a hardware store to get.

Hi Mastodon, I am Epochs of Fashion - art historian, sewing lover, museum goer and looking for like-minded people who love a bit of niche historical knowledge. I post about fashion and social history!
Here’s a Terminology Overview of a medieval Houppelande gown and Hennin headdress! #fashionhistory #costumehistory #arthistory #medieval #historical #historylesson #historicalcostume #historicaldress #epochsoffashion

Long shot but does anyone know information about this dress (see picture)
TinEye (reverse image search) says that it's a "Black figured silk dress with high neck chemisette of cream lace, early 1890s (silk & lace)" from Bath Fashion Museum, Dated sometime between 1890 - 1895 ( ?? ) but I can't find it in the Museum online catalogue.
It also does not appear to be part of any public collection at the Louvre Museum in Paris

In between working on a graphic novel, I’ve been working on a series of historical costume guides for artists. I spent a couple of years at costume college, and there’s a lot of knowledge from that experience that I feel I can share. So these plates are for artists to use as reference, as much as they like. I have an early Medieval one up for a few bucks on ko-fi, and this current one on the gothic period is almost done.

One thing I’ve always enjoyed about being an online denizen for so many years, is to see how much artists’ work grows over time. I thought it would be fun to share my ancient history here, chronologically, to see if anyone finds it encouraging or interesting. Here’s part 1 of The Old Art Project because I am bad at naming things. Something from 2002, when I was 21, and something from 2021. I’ll let you do the math. 🐞🪲
