Like many things in medicine, #healthinsurance makes it more expensive, not less.

We can dispense generic for members of our #directprimarycare #familymedicine practice for about $14 and up for 30 tabs but Mark Cuban's #costplus pharmacy has it for even less (no relationship with them):

  7. #NASA’s Office of Inspector General issued a devastating 👎 audit 🔍 of the program, which found that delays to the #SLS booster and engine contracts have resulted in an approximately $6 billion 💰💰💰💰💰💰 cost-overrun. The report further criticizes the use of #CostPlus contracts, a fee structure by which essentially all of the risk is taken on by the government. techcrunch.com/2023/07/13/cong

  8. For approximately the same amount that #NASA has spent annually 💰 on #SLS rocket development, NASA was able to support the development of the #CrewDragon vehicle and purchase a total of six missions to the #SpaceStation arstechnica.com/science/2022/0

  9. Today's big news was that #CVS is changing to essentially a #costplus model, which sounds a lot like Mark Cuban's company.

But #drugpricing experts say the program appears designed to pad CVS’ own bottom line rather than making drugs cheaper for patients and employers.

“When you notice that this was announced on investor day, I think we know who their audience is with this."

  11. True story: Patient came in this week stating that she could not afford #Abaugio (generic) due to copay, related to change in insurance status. I looked up the medication in GoodRx and saw that it was about $2,200 per month! On a lark, I decided to look it up on #MarkCuban’s site, #CostPlusDrugs. Would you believe it was available for $12 per month!

    Not a misprint - $2,200 vs $12!

    This is criminal!

Bottom line: Check both #GoodRx and #CostPlus when checking for generic pricing!

  12. CW: Long thread/13

Di Muzio observes that when interest rates go up, businesses *don't* reduce their borrowing, as the neoclassicals would predict. Why not? Because businesses in our real world enjoy pricing power, which means that when their costs of borrowing go up, they pass those increases on to their customers (economists call this "#CostPlus pricing").

  13. 💲🤑 "There is no rush ... #Boeing has the #lead contract to develop the upper stage, and it likely will be a lucrative one as #NASA awarded it under "#costplus" 💰💵 terms. Although #Artemis III—the first #crewed landing—is nominally scheduled to occur in 📆 2025, it will almost certainly be #delayed. This means that Boeing will likely be able to #stretch the development contract for the Exploration Upper Stage, which uses the RL-10 #engine, out for nearly a #decade"
