I have been hearing reports that #Kazakhstan has seized #Roscosmos assets at #Baikonur #cosmodrome The only thing confirmed is the seizure. We don't know how much. Was the whole thing seized, or just buildings.
Baikonur belongs to Kazakhstan. It is leased to #russia who apparently has not been paying their bills.
This is huge. Baikonur is Russia's only spaceport. If they lose it, the blow will be huge.

Two #Buran are rotting away in an abandoned hangar in another part of the sprawling Baikonur complex. Over the years, local scavengers have snuck into the hangar to harvest valuable metals and electronics.
