Encountered this amazing book in the local brocante for zero money: a battered copy of the 1871 15th edition of Camille Flammarion's bestseller on the "Plurality of Inhabited Worlds" from 1862. It is a joy to (selectively) read, partly because it is full of interesting ideas and references to things that have been forgotten 164 years later, partly because the pompous language is both touching as well as hilarious.

From what I can tell, this was made as part of a series of miniature paintings to honor Yuri #Gagarin and the cosmonauts. The artists were a wife and husband duo who were from Palekh, a town known for their folk art and miniature paintings in this style.
