Last summer I started to wear victorian-style corset made of cotton coutil combined with linen undershirts half of the time. Now I've gotten so used to it that I really, really can't wrap my head around the fact that people somehow decided that completely synthetic bras will be the contemporary warderobe staple. How do I find someone who makes late Victorian historical corsets and whom I could visit for fitting? or who would be willing to send the mock-ups around the mail? I'm located in Baltics, so Baltics are easy, and Poland, Germany Scandinavian countries are on the table. Russia is not. For mailing EU is preferred. #sewing #corsetry #HistoricalCostuming

And I've just realized that while I do have plenty of spiral boning and a length of shiny rayon boning casing in my stash, they are not in the size needed for each other.

I do have enough coutil to make self-fabric boning channels, I was just hoping to not have to, and enough twill tape to make boning channels out of that (but I'm not sure I'd like them as external channels).

And the front of the pattern is significantly longer than the busk I planned to use, and I don't understand how I didn't realize it from the mockup.
(Luckily I do have a couple of busks that I expected to be too long for me, but “you can always cut them down to size”, so I still have multiple options (either trim down the corset fabric or use the longer busk).

I wouldn't normally this *extra* with a corset mockup. (I'm certainly not in the habit of using silk for mockups.) But this is my first time doing cording, so I'm using the "mockup" as basically a separate finished piece to let me get used to the technique. #sewing #corsetry
