- a raging pandemic with no plan to rollout the vaccine
- a severely understaffed military in Afghanistan with a deadline to pull out and half the country already overrun by the Taliban
- a #CorruptSCOTUS and hundreds of dodgy Trump judges
- a decimated Dept of Justice and Dept of State
- zero handover from the prior admin -
If Dems retake the Senate, you can be sure the GOP will jam through two replacement SCOTUS justices on the way out.

The US Constitution already lays out the order of succession.
Whereas SC law allows a temporary appointee until the next election.
Of course, Trump, MAGA and the #CorruptSCOTUS have shown little respect for the Constitution, so who know what will happen.

"Originalism" is an absurd theory for constitutional law.
"Intent" is inherently impossible to divine when legal text is the result of a group effort.
It gives a blank cheque to the judge to cherrypick their data points in explaining their take on "intent". Worse, it quite literally abandons the cause of "justice" in favour of adherence to this selected view of "intent".

...meanwhile Trump can take direct command of "independent agencies" (exc The Fed), states can discriminate against trans people and corporations/the wealth can openly buy elections now.

I full expect Trump wants to force out Thomas and Roberts to put in his own lackeys. If one/both stand down, expect McConnell to jam in replacements in Dec.
And who would he appoint? Blanche, almost certainly. Ivanka, maybe?

Who cares if Congress created specific agencies to operate independent of POTUS pressure.
That's only relevant when a Dem is in power (specifically FDR). Now, we'll let a Republican do whatever he wants and justify it by saying he can be held accountable ... 4 years later at the election.
Oh, by the way, House seats can now be gerrymandered for partisan outcome and the POTUS has immunity to do what he wants

Of course, Trump doesn't plan to leave. We know this as fact, as he fought to stay once already.
I was referring to the oligarchy behind the current authoritarianism. They don't plan to ever leave the WH. They've packed the #CorruptSCOTUS with their stooges and they'll keep putting their stooges in the WH - through a combination of dirty money and election manipulation.
Genuine democracy was good while it lasted, let's say 1965-2010

The right thing... in a very narrow part of doing a massive wrong thing.
Except for the Fed, the #CorruptSCOTUS has just destroyed the independence of every other "independent regulator".
This is a very, very bad ruling. Only slightly less than the 100% worst possible decision they could have made.

The #CorruptSCOTUS failed to rule on birthright citizenship...choosing to delay this no brainer until the last possible minute. Not a good sign.
And now they gave Trump bad news on E Jean Carroll's $5m verdict. IMO, they would only do that to help deflect criticism when doing something really big that Trump wants.
I'm very worried for birthright citizenship ...on any of the Civil War amendments.

Only rarely, am I pleasantly surprised by their decisions.

These are the same #CorruptSCOTUS that cherrypicked facts and fantasies to overturn Roe. They gutted a 100 year old NY gun law because it didn't reflect thinking 200 years ago.
They are making it what ever crap allows the outcome they want
