#Tornado in central #Maine confirmed by National Weather Service

"The National Weather Service (#NWS) said a confirmed tornado was located in southern Somerset County on Wednesday.
"According to the NWS, the tornado was located over Norridgewock, about 8 miles west of Skowhegan, shortly after 3:30 p.m. The weather service said the storm was moving northeast at 20 mph.

"[T]he NWS issued a tornado warning for an area that included the communities of #SkowheganME, #MadisonME, #NorridgewockME, #StarksME, #CornvilleME, #CanaanME, #AthensME, #MercerME and #HartlandME.
"Shortly before 4:15 p.m., Central Maine Power reported that 449 customers in Somerset County were without power, including 329 in the town of Madison. The number of power outages in the county has since decreased. At about 3:50 p.m., the NWS discontinued the tornado warning."
