2 weeks ago our colleague @ninaweis highlighted at the first #CORDI2023 how @helmholtz structures interact with @NFDI, providing an example of how a large national research data ecosystem can be successfully connected to the NFDI network.

Last week I have been to the 1st Conference on Research Data Infrastructure #CoRDI2023 organized by @NFDI

My main takeaways

👨‍💻 It’s mostly about human problems that need to be fixed (connecting communities, data governance, etc)

🖥 Knowledge Graphs and especially #Wikibase gain attention in the context of research (data) infrastructures

👩‍⚕️ There is an increasing need for sustainably funded data management careers

This week in #Karlsruhe - came for the conference (#CoRDI2023), stayed for the demo (#Klimastreik).

Now back to Berlin, using public train transport of course. Grateful for my engineer friends who work at DB and try to make it better despite many challenges. Being able to travel all around Germany by train is actually one of my fave things about this country :)

Great initiative about research data management #RDM in Germany presented at #CoRDI2023. Reminds me of the #UGent #datastewards, but of course much larger: instead of one data steward per faculty, one steward (organisation) for each federal state (yes that's partial Germany on the map , more German states will join)

Thank you #CoRDI2023 for many interesting and exciting discussions at the poster session and the market of consortia today. Looking forward to tomorrow!

I hope at some point in this conf we can also discuss the question - how to incentivise devs to share their code publicly *always* and by default (regardless if it's "perfect" or spaghetti - it's a spectrum anyway, right?). Basically if a project gets public funding and uses funding to write code, even if just in pilot / Proof-of-Concept stage, code should be online from day 1. But as most tricky questions, I guess the problem is social not technical, right? #CoRDI2023
