Two great films, but for me the choice is easy.
The Conversation is one of the true classics, the real thing.
Coppola making one of his finest films, Gene Hackman giving an enigmatic and uniquely convincing performance. A compelling and troubling film, as fresh today as it was 50 years ago.
Hackman is always good, even if he plays to type and even if the film is bad. But in The Conversation his acting is true art.
