  1. I mentioned a month back the passing of Janet Grieve - one of the initial generation of NZ ocean scientists who set the scene for all that followed... I put together an obituary and in doing so was deluged from people all around the world with anecdotes and love and gratitude - it was pretty amazing actually.

  2. #NewPaper! A nice undergrad-led study (and my first "senior" author paper!), showing that starvation eventually affects #copepod thermal limits. We can't ignore the effects of food limitation on the #ecology of #plankton in a changing climate!

  3. New preprint! Got to work with a stellar REU student last year on project measuring how #starvation affects #copepod #temperature tolerance.

  4. A cube-shaped creature with 24 eyes and no brain has baffled scientists. The creature called a sea sapphire, is a copepod that can change color and disappear. It is one of the most abundant and diverse animals on the planet but also one of the most mysterious.

  5. Excited to finally get this #preprint out! This one digs into #copepod thermal performance curves, how much they vary across seasons, and how this might affect vulnerability of #plankton to #climatechange and #heatwaves (spoiler - it totally does).

  6. Some round things from my @norwichsciencefestival and @norfolkwt sample. a foraminifera, a copepod egg, and a Gastropod larva. As always, correct me if I’m wrong!

  7. How does #copepod #respiration change through #ontogeny and are these patterns resilient to acute #temperature exposure during early stages? We look into this in our new #preprint! A big shout out to Mat, for all his hard work on this project!

  8. Some Harpacticoida Copepods from my latest sample from Blakeney Quay. I still haven’t had time to explore copepod ID, so if you have any ideas on genus, please let me know!
