There's a lot of heatwave advise around, much of it good (from closing curtains, to only opening windows that are shady), but the best quick cooling method I know is this.
Put your bare feet into a washing up bowl of cold (not iced) water and sit still with them so immersed for five minutes... always works for me.

It was 38⁰C this afternoon and we were lamenting our heat wave.
Much to our surprise a light weight storm drifted by and knocked 13⁰ out of the temerature and gave us 3mm of badly needed rain.
A great way to finish the weekend.
