Yes, propane! Most #narrowboats have #propane #cookers. It can also be used for #heating. Alde is probably the leading brand for producing #propane boilers for boats that will run radiators as a #domestic #boiler will.#Diesel #heaters are also popular. Eberspacher and Webasto being the main brands though many fit very competitively priced Chinese units, but I read somewhere that they are not approved for marine use and should they start a fire insurance would be invalid.
A few #liveaboard boaters have larger Aga or Rayburn oil or solid fuel fired cookers that will also drive radiators
I referred to #cooker rather than #stove deliberately. Almost all privately owned narrow boats have small traditional style #solidfuel
(wood/coal) stoves fitted. On 19th century #boats theses would have been used both for heating and cooking. On modern boats they are usually stand alone heaters in the saloon, but some will be fitted with boilers and drive radiators elsewhere on the boat. -

Story time. I don't think I've told this here before.
I used to live near a collection of fast food restaurants. Close enough that the restaurants' patrons could detect the WiFi signal from our router.
For S&Gs when I first set up the router, I set the WiFi SSID to 'Police Surveillance Drone'. I thought it was a bit of fun. It was only many years later that I discovered it had an unintended effect.
The cookers, that used to frequent the restaurants, freaked out when they discovered a police surveillance drone always hovering overhead. They thought it was legit . Many stopped going there.
Fun times.

It's cooker time in Invercargill. While the position of mayor usually attracts a varied bunch of candidates, a certain Gordon McCrone stands out this time as a blatant and unashamed fantasist. McCrone's web site is a damming record of one man's amassed insanity.*
It seems Police and doctors are all out to get McCrone. "My Criminal Lawyer says it will cost $30,000 and take 2 years to put the Entire Wellington Police Department in Prison." Only thirty grand? I'm sure most people would expect to pay at least twice that amount to depose an entire force.
He claims an "effective PhD" in sociology and criminology and aborigine life". Not a real PhD then. But it gets weirder.
McCrone apparently advises President Joe Biden on "internal and external affairs." Uh-huh.
Then there's this: "At the age of 7, I discovered I was a pedophile..."
He claims that due to pain he can "barely do 1 minute of masturbating instead of hours non stop..."
More worryingly, he calls himself "an unregistered, self-appointed child sex psychologist."
That's enough. This man is actually standing for the mayoralty. God save us all.

For the first time ever a NZ social worker has been disciplined over a Covid-19 issue. In 2021 while the virus was raging, Dr Jacquelyn Elkington issued fake "vaccine exemptions" while not qualified to do so.
She lied repeatedly when trying to renew her practising certificate, refused to provide information to the enquiry and (cooker alert) cited Billy Te Kahika in her defence.
"In 2022, Dr Elkington ran for the Whakatāne mayoralty and posted online at the time her various theories, which included that the Covid-19 vaccination caused monkeypox."
She came sixth out of seven.
Suspended for 12 months, censured and ordered to pay costs of more than $13,000.
Amazingly, she's listed on the University of Otago’s website as a senior lecturer hauora Māori.

It's taken a while, but another NZ anti-vax doctor has finally been named. Suppression lapsed for Dr Sophie Jane Febery, currently practising in Mataura, when The NZ Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal released its decision yesterday.
In a series of what should have been career-ending acts of stupidity, Febery handed out vaccine exemptions, prescribed Ivermectin, attempted to import Ivermectin (later found to be sub-standard) and bodged medical records.
She appeared as a doctor at a Christchurch anti-vax rally, claiming the pandemic wasn't as deadly as scientists claimed.
The Tribunal decided "her public comments about the Covid-19 vaccine suggested a lack of research rigour." They found "her unlawful conduct amounts to malpractice and negligence."
She's on a tight rein for the next three years, has been formally censured and ordered to pay $67,196.52.

Jeez! After they unlawfully set up camp in parliament grounds, rioted, assaulted cops and set fire to a children's playground, one of the cooker children is now suing Trevor Mallard.
They're claiming two breaches of the Bill of Rights — the right not to be subjected to torture or cruel treatment and the freedom of association. Their lawyer claims Mallard used "military torture techniques" when he broadcast music into parliament grounds.
I can see how playing Rick Astley on endless repeat might be considered torture by some. But isn't it odd that the "torture" didn't affect the hundreds of cops present. Maybe they were all wearing tinfoil hats?
The age of the 'child' is not mentioned, nor why he's waited three years to make a claim.

In the DCC story, Ashton mainly quotes an 'expert' called Bruce Spittle. He's the one who was citing US law.
Ashton fails to mention Spittle was a consultant psychiatrist until he was struck off in 2018 after being convicted of two counts of indecent assault on patients.
Credibility? Zero.
From now on I'll view ODT stories out of Oamaru with deep suspicion.

Dunedin anti-vaxxer & struck-off nurse Jennifer Scott appeared in Dunedin court charged with disorderly behaviour, resisting police and failing to remain stopped after she abused pro-Palestine protesters.
This time Police offered her diversion on the latter charge then dropped the others, which seems extraordinarily kind of them, given her appalling record.
I note she also lost a Tenancy Tribunal hearing in October 2024 for very good reason. She wasn't a tenant... she was squatting in someone else's property.
This person appears to have a Bonny & Clyde complex and I'm sure we'll be seeing her in the court news again.

What does an anti-vax eye surgeon do when vaccination is an express condition of his professional membership of the Medical Council? Easy! He signs up to an "alternative" Med Council run by cookers -- the Wakaminenga Health Council -- which only exists on Facebook and has 79 members. It has a real SovCit feel to it.
Napier ophthalmologist Dr Philip Macdonald was found guilty on 19 charges of practicing without a license last year and fined $21,000. His appeal to the High Court has just been shot down in flames.
This is a reminder that cookerism isn't confined exclusively to low-IQ individuals. Just mainly.
