Involves new forecast models and AI to make slight adjustments to the flight path, avoiding the air more likely to cause ice crystals and the associated cloud formation in its path. The resulting clouds keeping more warmth in the atmosphere.

@ai6yr I learned very recently that contrails contribute meaningfully to climate change. There was a voluntary #ContrailAvoidance pilot program AA was part. It had promising results but w/ Trump’s war they quit because minor fuel increases.

Wouldn’t it be great if CIC recommended adoption of the plan?! 🤩
