Edwy Plenel s’entretien avec Jean-Philippe BéjaDepuis un demi-siècle, le sinologue Jean-Philippe Béja met en évidence la longue durée du mouvement démocratique chinois. Entretien video à l’occasion de son livre sur le système concentrationnaire du « laogai ».
Ce voyage au long cours dans un système concentrationnaire qui perdure offre une contre-histoire de la Chine moderne, dévoilant la part d’ombre d’un pays-continent profondément transformé par une révolution industrielle d’une ampleur et d’une rapidité sans précédent. Notre entretien réhabilite, à l’inverse, sa part de lumière qui, depuis 1919 et le mouvement du 4-Mai, ne cesse de resurgir, à intervalles réguliers, jamais définitivement défaite malgré les répressions. Il se conclut par l’évocation de trois figures de cette inlassable espérance démocratique : Wei Jingsheng, Liu Binyan et Liu Xiaobo.
