Content wrappers/warnings are a good thing for posts going into grisly detail about news stories.
Thanks to the people who use these.
And if you still aren't, it's that CW button at the bottom of the window where you write posts.
#ContentWarning #ContentWrapper -
The #TwitterMigration seems to have seriously dented the #ContentWarning (aka #ContentWrapper) culture. I still see them, but they are becoming very thin on the ground on both my home and federated timelines.

I do wish more people, especially the #Twitter refugees would use the #ContentWrapper. One of the things I hate about Twitter is you end up doomscrolling. The CW allows people to choose whether to read your rant/post or potentially triggering post. This is a nice place, let's keep it that way. Use the CW. #mastodon #triggers

@SpockResists There is no doubt you will find your people and be able to hold many rigorous and energetic discussions on Mastodon. And many of us do accept that #politics is an undercurrent to even the most mundane and everyday things. But here you need to be mindful of how often and how much other users want to engage with it on a daily basis. To disregard our #MentalHealth by pushing your views onto everyone whenever and wherever you want will not be appreciated across the board.
Imagine if you were comfortably gardening in your village home and reading the news a couple times a day, but a load of vehicles with loudspeakers have started rolling through daily, yelling that there are so many things in the world to be outraged about, and we need to be guilted into becoming loud and angry ourselves.
Is that not a little bit rude?
I do disagree with the "no politics" argument but I strongly feel that we do not need more Twitter style chaos and #trauma.
So friends, just use a #ContentWrapper and I'll be much more willing to boost your political posts to your benefit.

Now might be a good time to announce the formation of the Anti-Hall-Monitor Club on Mastodon. We pledge never to Abuse Report or use #ContentWrapper or block, unless it's crypto spam. During the beta phase of Mastodon's 2nd iteration (that's what this really is), we pledge never to use mute or block. Why?
Because we know how to scroll past.

Reply to put in #contentwrapper the #TJHatTrick #TJHack not a #contentwarning #CW issue is largely settled in my book. -
@tomasekeli
I also like #ContentWrapper for #CW more than the Warning version! 🙂 -
i follow a lot of people who are, quite naturally, into a lot of things i'm not.
it's so nice when they put things behind #contentWarning or #contentWrapper (i like that name better) so i can chose not to read it.
i particularly enjoy people who put #sports behind them. i think those people are just great!

@conradhackett Would love a #CW on the above, not a #contentwarning but rather a #contentwrapper to serve as a headline as the large graphic takes up my entire screen.
But hey, I just devise a method of dealing with that on a #retoot ( #retweet ) manner. Like so...
That said, everyone should be aware of what the above graphic portrays too many #nuclear weapons on the plant and Russia, followed by the USA, accounts for the vast majority

CW: Mastodon app feature suggestions
The features I’d most like to see added to the #MastodonApp:
1. Edit existing toots
2. Delete & Re-draft toots
3. Greater visibility of the local and federated timelines
4. A dedicated section for DMs, i.e. toots that are only visible to people I mention
5. Prompt by default whether ‘reblogs’ are to followers, public or unlisted, with an option to choose a default in Settings
6. Call ‘reblogs’ boosts!
7. Settings for font size and control over visibility of CWs and long posts within the app
8. Indent the body of the toot text to make the timeline easier to scan (#Tooot and T*****r have got this right IMO!)
9. Default to showing #CamelCase #hashtags, not lower case, which are better for #ScreenReaders
10. In-app support for migrating servers
One further suggestion: 💬 (or similar) would make a better icon for CWs, which are typically used as content notices or summaries (as per the #ActivityPub spec), rather than warnings. #ContentWarning #ContentNotice #ContentWrapper #Mastodon #FeatureRequests #UX #noxp @Gargron 🙏

I've set posts with a #contentwarning / #contentwrapper to automatically expand, as I do generally want to see #politics. But I've just seen someone say they're going to use #cw for film and TV #spoilers, which I don't want to see! #torn

CW: Love Idea: CW = Content WRAPPER
I like that idea of CW meaning "Content Wrapper" instead of "Content Warning!" It's far more inclusive, and I think, a better use of that header field!
Let's make this a thing! #ContentWrapper
-
@rbkgreens @ZackPolanski tbh the more I've been researching this thread, the more I noticed #cw used as #contentwrapper by default, not so much a #contentwarning. And in a way it makes sense and could become the default way of writing posts. But there would be pressure to write better subject lines, because at the moment there isn't enough convention, i.e. 'not sure to put this in #cw' or the common '#meta'.
-
The point is, even if you don’t understand a #culture, especially one that’s welcomed you with open arms, it’s plain decency not to shit all over it. @chongliss related a good way to reframe #cw for #Mastodon #newbies: call it #contentwrapper, because in a way, that’s what it does, top up your content with a subject line and put it in a container.

#cw #ContentWrapper #ContentWarning Please use them where neccessary, you may think "ah thats not how it worked on the other site" But its how it works here, if you don't you could slowly be banned from instances, and you won't know you are.........
