The transhuman in me goes "YESS!!! EXTRA SENSES!", but it's also great for Blind people, let's hope Capitalism doesn't fuck them over as it usually does with the Disabled and new technologies.
Imagine having sight again, then the company who operates your robot eye goes bust and you are blind again.
This is also why transhumanist body modification will NOT happen under Capitalism, you would never own the new parts in your body

Yep, 5 year old #ContactLenses are still OK to stick on my eyeball.
-
those of you who are experienced with
#ContactLenses — the kind where one eye has close vision and one has distance — how long did it take for your eyes to adjust?or will I always have a feeling like one eye can't see at all and the other has to work extra hard and it's not even seeing that great?

Yesterday’s adventures in #ContactLenses went quite well. I had them in all day and though I thought one had fallen out, a quick poke to my #Eyeball confirmed it was still there.
Getting them out was much less of a #challenge and even after a couple of pints I removed them without scooping my eyeball with them.
-
I got #ContactLenses yesterday! Yay!!!
They are great so far but omg it feels so weird having something stuck on my eyeball.
-
I'm trying out contact lenses for the first time!
They were initially a pain in the ass to put in, but I'm already adapting to them, and I like how I can see without the weight of glasses. I might switch to these after my trial, but we'll see.
-
Can I be too old or unfit for #ContactLenses? Been trying for a week and it's so much hassle for inferior vision (to glasses).
-
"It is difficult to say what kind of #health impacts this level of eye exposure to the #chemicals may have because no studies on how the eyes absorb #PFAS from lenses have been done. However, PFAS are absorbed through the dermis and are highly mobile compounds, so it’s possible that eyes do absorb some level of the chemicals, though fluoropolymers are generally a less mobile kind of PFAS..."
Every day some new horror awaits us....

I’ve learned that I can’t wear contact lenses for more than ~4 hours. The contacts wear very well, I can see with them better than with my glasses. Just have to keep in mind the 4 hours window and take it off before the headache starts. :smart:

CW: Mention of depression
I got fitted for contact lenses last week and the optometrist did a pretty good job with the script. I have a slight astigmatism in my left eye so I have a toric lens for it. My right eye used to need them but now I can wear a normal lens.
I’ve not regularly worn contacts in years, as the daily care was sometimes a bit much (Especially when I was dealing with depressive episodes). I’ve been doing extremely well lately and decided to give it a go for a bit.
The biggest down side is that I have to use reading glasses when I wear them, as they make me far-sighted. Apparently, there are bifocal lenses but a cheap pair of readers works fine. I want to find some half-moon “librarian” style reading glasses!
-
Took 4 tries, but my amazing opthalmologist finally got the right contact lenses for me! They're not as good as my glasses, but fine for biking and other outdoor activities.

So you’re in Ireland and you want to order contact lenses, you say? You might stumble upon Feel Good Contacts through a search engine like DuckDuckGo as they seem to have the cheapest prices. Nice…
Until the time comes to reorder. If you’re not careful, your reorder will cost considerably more.
So what do you do?
Go back to the search engine, search for your specific brand of lenses + “cheapest” and follow the link to get the lower price.
Oh how I hate capitalism.
