After six years only using #Contabo, I am looking for other #VPS #hosting options. I do not feel they are particularly reliable any more (maybe they have never been), and I would prefer to go for a provider with a good track record.
I have looked at websites comparing other hosting options, but of course everything is super chaotic and flashy and aaaargh
I trust folks here for advice on affordable, reliable, trustworthy European providers. I would like to add cooperative and sustainable too, but they all seem to be way more expensive and I am afraid I cannot afford them right now.
Because I am a student, I have emailed some more “progressive” hosting providers asking for discounts, but I feel a bit bad doing that.

Blame Shifting: There is a clear tendency to attribute faults to the customer or incorrect settings rather than investigating potential anomalies in the underlying virtualization or infrastructure layer.
Absence of Root Cause Analysis: Because the support team applied a static configuration workaround and immediately closed the ticket, the actual root cause of the disappearing DHCP configuration was never identified.
Perpetual Vulnerability: When root causes are ignored in favor of quick patches, the underlying infrastructure bugs remain. This guarantees that the exact same issue will occur again, leading to an endless cycle of new tickets.

Today I realized that my Linux Contabo VPS has a built-in script in `/etc/cron.hourly` that drops the cache every hour. I found it when I checked dmesg; there are so many "drop_caches: 1" lines.
I guess the memory is not dedicated, but shared via KVM memory ballooning.
It seems Contabo tries so hard to reclaim physical memory from its customers by dropping page caches every hour. I feel like Contabo is somewhat notorious for aggressive overprovisioning.
I will delete the `free` script.

Critical Security Oversight in Contabo Provisioning Attention
#Sysadmin and #InfoSec community: I have observed a significant security flaw in Contabo’s server provisioning process.
Post-deployment, the cloud-init configuration files are left persistent on the disk. These files contain sensitive networking information and, critically, the administrator credentials in cleartext.
Furthermore, the provisioning script appears to generate anomalous artifacts, such as writing an MOTD file to
c:\etc\motd, indicating a lack of quality assurance in their image creation.If you are using Contabo, I strongly recommend rotating your credentials immediately and purging these residual provisioning files.

I have contacted Contabo: "I will be ordering multiple VPS in Singapore. Ensure your infrastructure, including IPv6, is functioning properly, as no refunds are offered. Customer support is slow and misaligned with my schedule. Confirm IPv4, IPv6, and overall infrastructure are fully operational."

My attempts to use a new Contabo VPS with IPv6 failed via SSH and browser, unlike IPv4 which worked. The issue was definitely with IPv6. I cancelled the subscription. Subsequent orders' costs kept rising, which I refuse to pay. I'll keep my old VPS despite its shortcomings, and I am reluctant to order another Contabo VPS.

@adamnews my experience with #Contabo was really horrible, constant problems with the VPS, filesystem getting corrupt or something like that, then they start limiting traffic in the email port and I couldn't convince them to remove the limit, because they expect that if you have high email traffic you were hacked or you are doing marketing diffusion,
I really DON"T recommend Contabo, I use netcup without problems since then, which is not in your list
