  1. On the TikTok ban idea.

The thing is that those that want to ban TikTok and those that don't are wrong and for the wrong reasons.

The fundamental issue that must be addressed and banned is the unwarranted and unnecessary gathering and commoditization of user data.

The corollary issue that must be addressed and banned is the "advertisement as a business model" in the use of products and services, not only in Apps but in other products.

That China may or may not gather and use customer data is an issue but it only illustrates the larger and more dangerous issue of user and consumer privacy.

  2. Don’t you love it when automatic phone-answering customer service bots pretend to type? 😂

Sometimes, though, there is no way to get what you need BUT to call in —
the chat bot just doesn’t cut it—

And then the automated system makes it almost impossible to talk to a human 😵‍💫

It’s worth it a lot of times, though, to negotiate pricing!

Companies will often give deals to keep customers. After FINALLY reaching a human, I got my internet svc. (w/ more speed) lowered by $36/mo.

  3. So I helped my parents today and found out that their phone company (AT&T) has been charging them $40/month extra (at minimum) and their ISP has been overcharging them as well.

I negotiated and got the price for their ISP down by $60/month and I will call about their phone service tomorrow.

Point is-- companies overcharge-- check your bills-- there are better deals out there and they will often lower the monthly price when you call.

    #MyTwoCents:

Research what the company would charge a new customer, then negotiate down saying you will pay that price.

Also, be willing to walk away. Companies will often fight to keep you as a customer and will play chicken w/ the price until unless you will quit being their customer.
