We use math (square roots) to balance our vocabulary sources, but what happens when conflicts arise?
We prioritize the small.
If a new word source conflicts with another, the smaller language family always gets priority.
This policy lifts up underrepresented voices, ensuring that even languages that might statistically "miss the cut" find a home in our shared tongue.

Hîsyêô's vocabulary isn't random. It is sourced from world languages based on the square root of their L1 (native) speaker populations.
Why the square root? If we used raw proportions, giants like English and Mandarin would swallow the whole dictionary. The square-root method flattens the curve, preventing specific language dominance and ensuring a truly global mix.

How do you spot a name in Hîsyêô?
🔡 Latin Script: Look for the Capital Letter. It is the only time we use title case. noyo sûko yôk îskô Kôko Kôlo.
🈯 Hîsyokûî & Obûgîdo Scripts: Look for the Brackets or Chevrons. Since these scripts don't have "capital letters," we wrap names to make them stand out. ƨɀ ɐʄɔ ɀ̑ı ɽ́ɟɔı ‹ɔıɔ ɔıʓ›
Simple rule: If it's capitalized or bracketed, it's a Name!

Did you know Hîsyêô has 4 levels of agreement? 🤯
Stop just nodding your head and start using the right register:
* Casual: ko / cî
* Standard: [Repeat the Verb]
* Formal: hokîkî (It is true) / wofok (Agreed)

We use inverted Q marks ¿like this? for tone but the grammar does the interrogating:
❓ zik (Pronoun) The universal "wh-" word. It stands in for the unknown. zik li nîmû = "Who are you?" (Lit: What/Who is you?)
✅ ko (Ender) Marks a Polar Question (Yes/No). It asks for a truth value. nîmû li xowosê ko = "Are you happy?"
🤝 cî (Ender) Marks a Proposal. It asks for agreement/consent. nûs li nô cî = "Shall we go?" / "Let's go, okay?"

In Hîsyêô, the particle yôk is a "constituent negator."
It goes immediately after the Preposition or Verb, but before the object phrase it negates.
noyo mokon yôk kûôxi I eat [not] fruit.
This structure mirrors older English (e.g., "I know not the man") before do-support pulled the negation forward ("I do not know...").
It keeps the negation attached strictly to the action or relationship it modifies! 🧠

Base verbs in Hîsyêô are Realis—they describe facts. To describe what might, should, or will happen (Irrealis), simply add a prefix:
- 🔮 kôî (Epistemic): Can / Might
- 🤔 bît (Conditional): Would
- ⚠️ kûu (Deontic): Should / Must
- 🚀 ke (Future): WillExample: noyo golo = "I read." noyo ke golo = "I will read."
Precise moods, zero ambiguity.

History isn't a line; it's layers. 🪵
In Hîsyêô, we don't have a "timeline." We have wutun wokût (time rings).
Guided by the Radial Growth Metaphor, time is viewed like the cross-section of a tree:
ilik (Inside) = The Past. It is the heartwood that supports us.
cihôû (On) = The Future. It is the new growth forming on the surface.
We don't leave the past behind; we grow around it. 🌳✨

Inspired by a fellow Kokanido called "Koanu," Hîsyêô was born. However, its ethos took a different path: greater grammar and lexical complexity for balanced information density and speech rate.
The goal is no longer just "minimalism" (which often descends into linguistic code golf), but succinctness. It encompasses a scope wider than minlang proponents allow, trading raw reduction for a complete, "batteries-included" experience.

Unlike auxlangs that seek to be neutral culturally, Hîsyêô takes a "batteries-included" approach.
Rather than fill-in-the-blanks with native biases, Hîsyêô gives you a built-in worldview featuring specific holidays, values, and social structures. A shared reality to step into from day 1.
The path to true cross-cultural fluency requires a shared cultural bridge.

In Hîsyêô, the letter x marks the spot, but don't be shocked—it shows up as a shrill "sh" sound!
Pronounced like / ʃ / (as in "shoe") or the retroflex / ʂ /, it might not have a huge portion of the words (currently 40, 4.88%) but several extremely high frequency words use x.
Don't worry about your pronunciation because / ʃ / conflicts with / s /, / f /, and / t͡ɕ /; there are no words to mispronounce!
So when you see x, think sh!

The particle bi marks Manner or Process Material. It turns a noun into an adverb, describing how or through what nature an action occurs.
Manner: nîo kôto bi fûnlôk ➡️ "He speaks joyfully." (with joy)
Nature/Process: noyo mokon ulyô bi zonwul ➡️ "I ate it animalistically." (with animal nature)
It allows you to perform an action through the essence of a noun.

Want to double or triple something? Just use the particle ônî before a number!
It creates a versatile phrase that can act as an adjective or noun.
ônî dûî (Multiplier + Two):
➡️ as adjective? "Double" zinkon ônî dûî = "Double doors"
➡️ as noun? "Pair" noyo buswen ônî dûî = "I need a pair."
Minimal syntax, maximum impact. 🧠

In English, we use "dummy subjects" like "there" or "it" to state existence (e.g., "There is a person").
In Hîsyêô, you just drop the subject!
When you have a null subject and start with the complement marker li, it creates an existential statement.
Example: ✨ li umo Literal: "[Is] someone" Meaning: "There is someone." / "It is a person."
No empty words needed; just pure existence.

Sometimes the best verb is... no verb!
When sentence lacks verb, it has a null copula. The verb is clear from context.
Why? It makes dialogue efficient and natural. Like answering "Where are you?" with "Here" instead of "I am here," Hîsyêô builds this right into the grammar.
Example: Instead of noyo li gô hoî ôfo ("I am located here"), you can say: ✨ hoî ôfo ("[I am] Here")

Instead of linear "timelines," Hîsyêô employs the Radial Time Metaphor, conceptualizing time as the growth rings of a tree. The past resides within (the core); the future represents the surface bark. An extended meeting is a thick undertaking (côt), adding volume to one's experience. Ancient history is considered deep (zîlyoîs), rather than distant. Cease traversing a line; cultivate your rings. ‼️ Punctuation Alert: #Hîsyêô has NO exclamation points! 🚫
Instead of a symbol, you use sentence-ending particles to encode the specific kind of emotion:
😡 ze = Aggression, anger, or raw intensity. kûu nîltûgu ze. (Stop!)
😲 foxo = Surprise, shock, or excitement. nîmû li sî gîk foxo! (Wow, you made it!)
This makes tone accessible to everyone—screen readers speak the emotion aloud, and the intent is never ambiguous! ♿️🔊

Hîsyêô forbids "minimal pairs" (words differing by just one sound) IF the sounds are too similar! 🚫
Example: ✅ mokon (to eat) exists. ❌ nokon is forbidden.
Why? The sound /m/ conflicts with /n/. This built-in error correction ensures that even if you mispronounce or mishear a sound, there's no wrong word to confuse it with! 🗣️✨

3 ways to simulate passivity:
1️⃣ Front the Verb: Place the verb phrase before the subject. mokon kûôxi û noyo ("Ate fruit by me") 🍎
2️⃣ Sub-clause: Define the subject using a clause. kûôxi li fos mokon ("Fruit is [that which is] eaten") 🔗
3️⃣ Causative Complement: Focus on the resulting state. li êo môtô ("is made burned") 🔥

Subjects can be dropped for conciseness when the agent/experiencer is clear, i.e., "going shopping?" (implied "Are you"). Standard in "pro-drop" languages like Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean; where the topic is inferred from discourse. English uses it for imperatives ("Stop!") and informally in contexts like text messages or diaries. Thoughts on this shortcut?
