@MexicanYenta Oh, right... I think I had heard of that. There's definitely a right-wing strain of anti-GMO, and that has helped to merge the #Conspirituality gang on some things.
It was over-ridden in my brain by Joel Salatin being exposed as a fundie hating GMOs because they were against God's plan.

@coffeepine I'm actually quoting #JeffSharlet, who I think is an interesting writer. I'm reading his book, The Undertow: Scenes from a Slow Civil War. I believe his key point is that it's all hands on deck. Some of us may be fighting in the streets. Others may be fighting the good fight on the library board. We all have a part to play in building more vibrant democratic cultures. By the way, I heard Jeff make this point on the excellent #Conspirituality podcast. Highly recommended.

This book does sound interesting. I've noticed - mainly from the anti-vax BS - how there is a certain type of spiritual, yoga-loving person who appears anti-corporate and almost revolutionary ... but who is always against people power of every kind.
The book Conspirituality discusses this culture which has it's origins in #eugenics and is, as Podur describes, anti-communist.

Some seem to think that humans need a fixed amount of dogma, fideism & fabrication.
So as religions wane - conspiracism, astrology, alt medicine, cults, #conspirituality, etc. must grow.
But there is another way... "evidence, reason & compassion for all sentient beings"
