From what I’ve read, the CD of this suffers from a degraded master tape. This, though, is an original 1964 Japanese pressing in fine form (there’s some tape saturation on the piano, typical of the recording style).

This is a rare album, only issued in Japan, and only in mono (as it was recorded), 10 years after it was recorded. (Four tracks appear in the MJQ: 40 Years CD box set.)

Fantastic performances all around (as you'd expect from MJQ), six weeks before Blues at Carnegie Hall.
