28/05/2025 - Evening walk round the hill. We took our tea and went to our quiet spot for a sit. A little bit of rain but nothing too bad. I got looking at the trees round us as I munched away. Larch and birch looking nice and the birds were in full song this evening. We were sitting in the heather underneath a lodgepole pine. I'd never really noticed how many of these there are here, easy to mistake for scots pine I think at first glance. Lovely trees.

We finally had a good, heavy snowfall yesterday. Was able to catch a few winter scenes for a change though the large flakes were constantly blowing in my face, lol.
I thought the flocking on this conifer's branches made it look like it was covered with a herd of white starfish⭐.

Back from my trip to Grand Staircase Escalante NM in Utah. At Escalante Petrified Forest SP I saw the largest, most plentiful and intensely colored petrified tree stumps. They date back 220 million years. Very special treat to see. They were conifers and some have been identified as belonging to the Auricaria family.
